  1. Sam time for a new harness me thinks.
  2. Son in-law come over and we installed the Retro-Sound Model One radio. Sounds a whole lot better than that aftermarket Sony that was mounted in the glove box. Also removed the 140 Watt amp the previous owner had installed in the truck. The new radio sounds better that the old setup even when the amp was working which was not all that often. Found out the problem with it was the speaker wires in the trunk were the only ones hooked to the amp. The Retro-Sound has 50 watts per channel so that is more than enough sound for this ole geezer.
  3. Took the 72 out for a spin this afternoon. Man the sound of the 2 1/2" exhaust thru those Flowmaster 50's gave me goose bumps. Come on spring I want you NOW.
  4. I,ve got a pix of the clip but my computer will not let me download it from the camera. I am technology challenged today well most days.
  5. Makes me wonder how many more rare editions of the bumper strip he has?
  6. These are the guys who got my Speedo to match the 700R4, 3:73 gears and the the 235/15 tires. It matches my GPS dead on.
  7. What size of tires are you running. I once had a car that called for 7:35 14's and I was running 8:00 14's and mine was off by about that much.
  8. I ordered my 70 Monte Sept. 20, 1969. I have no numbers from it but it did take 10 weeks to get it. Flint plant went on strike so it got built at the Van Nuys plant. The Monte came in with Malibu steering wheel center and the drip rail molding over the drivers door was dinged. Sure do wish I had kept it but did not want to make car payments.
  9. Did you take any pix while disassembling it? That usually helps a lot. If I was closer I would help you as I used to build and rebuild them for GM.
  10. Did anyone see the missing window trim on the drivers door?
  11. My thinking to Joe. How much noise do you need when you are out and trying to enjoy a great ride.
  12. Yes built in Van Nuys and shipped to Pendleton Indiana
  13. My 70 that I ordered in Sept 69 was Cali car. Small block 400 with a two barrel carb. It had the charcoal canister and the two lines going to the fuel tank.
  14. I just bought a Retro Sound Model One Black for $235 from Crutchfield's. Have not installed it yet but it looks like a very nice unit. I went to the Crutchfield site and it was $40 higher. It is a universal fit radio but came with two bezels to fit the Monte. It has a remote control. Remote mounted usb/SD/MP3 reader with a 18" lead so this part can be mounted in the ash tray or elsewhere as needed. Also has 4 RCA outputs for external amplification. 3.5 aux input. Very compact and lightweight and I am having a time not being in the garage installing it. That will have to wait until I get this kidney stone problem taken care and I can get my son in-law Jamey her to help me.
  15. I never would have thought of painting the stripes before the candy. That makes for one great looking paint job.
  16. You are a great asset to this web site Ian. Keep up the great work and you will be rewarded handsomely one of these days.
  17. The bad thing to me on turned pipes is that they will kick up a dust storm regularly. I have a good friend with a 66 Nova with the down turned tail pipes and most of us stay in front os him as his really kicks up a lively dust storm.
  18. Jamey my son in-law came up today and we worked on trying to get the aftermarket cruise control to work better. On the trip to the Eastern Meet last summer the cruise would only hold at 68MPH. After checking all setting we came to the conclusion that the return spring was to to stiff. Wet roads kept up from testing it today so maybe later in the week.
  19. My compressor had the high temp fuse/switch so I had to get the correct compressor for that. I had a hard time finding one of those. I got a rebuilt one at NAPA. The first one had a frozen clutch the second one had bad vanes in the compressor the third one worked like a charm. Also replaced the dryer twice during my trial and tribulations. I did the first two installs myself and the third had the pros do it that may be just the difference. Also on the third try I bought replacement the condenser core. The header for the core support had to come off and the piece behind the bumper had to come off. Sure am glad the pros did the last one. If I had it to do over I would have them do it all the first time and saved myself some money and a lot of time in the end. The system needs to be flushed if it has been open for a very long period of time. Mine was opened for over ten years and the pros took it apart piece by piece and flushed it thoroughly.
  20. There are different grades/levels of SEM products also.
  21. The easiest way I have found is hire mechanic to do it. No fuss, no mess and no ^&%$*( words used.
  22. Yes House of Kolor has discontinued many of their color combos. Trying to match HOK stuff with others makers usually does not work well. Make sure you get enough to finish the project and have some left over for later repairs or small redo's.
  23. Duraglass is a USC product and at $55.00 a gallon quite expensive but a very good product..
  24. Is the shipper paying to repair the shipping damage?? Not a bad looking Monte.
