  3. Finally got it. As I thought it was a broken piece of the plastic shoe that was preventing the latch from rotating fully. With some help from Joe sending me photos of a latch he had and talking it through I was able to finally see with a scope where the plastic piece was. I was able to get it poked out with a coat hanger bent just the right way and the door opened.
  4. Is that the one where Coffee is pronounced “quoffy”?
  5. I got a lesson in Northeastern accents last time I went to the Eastern Meet. Sometimes the word shocks is pronounced like "shacks". That was a very funny conversation. I was like "what are Shacks?". I look forward to more misunderstandings. LOL 🤣 The southern accent I can deal with since I've been watching NASCAR for 40 years. 😁
  6. Welcome! Great looking Monte! This is a great place with knowledgeable people.
  7. The standard steering wheel for 1971. The optional sport steering wheel.
  8. Bolt the seats etc in before doing final trimming. My original carpet went past the screws. The screws went through it.
  9. It was a special order colour with no vinyl top based on that tag. It would be interesting to know what the original colour was. The build sheet or bill of sale may shed light on this if you have it. Being a Baltimore factory car it likely had multiple build sheets in it.
  10. My flights and hotel are booked. I guess that seals the deal. See you all in Carlisle.
  11. I hope to see you in person a Western Meet some day. If the 2024 location is too far for you perhaps in the future. 🙂
  12. Well said. I agree! I've been part of this family for over 20 years and have been fortunate to meet many members at meets over the years. The cars bring us together but it really is about the people. There's something about the type of people who own this particular car. Usually easy going people and no drama. When I started the Western Meets many years ago the experience with the great people in this club surpassed my expectations. It was family immediately and that has continued. This is why members travel from as far as 1,400 miles for these meets annually. I can't wait to see old friends and meet new ones at both the Western and Eastern Meets in 2024. As far as banter goes, I just have to say "Hi Dennis!"
  13. The factory paint code will be on the body tag on the driver’s side cowl area. Here’s our resources page to help decode it. It does look like it could be Ascot Blue. https://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/resources/resourcespage/
  14. Congrats on the purchase! I got my cloth bench seat covers from Legendary Interiors and very happy with them. They match the originals very well. I hear Cars Inc cloth seat covers are good as well.
  15. And you thought Canadians were friendly, EH.
  16. Here’s a couple photos of the original setup installed.
  17. Here's what the bezel for the switch should look like. Note that this fan is a defogger, not a defroster. it is just cool air from the interior circulated to help defog the rear window. If the window is frosty it will not defrost it.
  18. I booked arriving the 19th and leaving the 23rd. Not 100% sure I'll make it happen yet but I'm working on it. I will be flying in and renting a car. Anyone need me to drive a Monte to the meet for them? 😁
  19. I've been discussing the meet with the event organizers and have a great spot in the park picked out for our group. We'll have some nice shade for the day.
  20. I actually have 3 more of those same tires in good condition. Came off of an 11,000 mile 72 Monte.
