  1. Just to let everyone know I have secured all 26 rooms at a hotel in Summerland for the meet but will not know the rates until the fall. You can expect roughly $170 per night (Canadian dollars) and up depending on the room type you get. Once I have the rates I will post the hotel information for booking. The dates will be Sep 12th, 2024 and leaving the 16th (4 nights). If someone wishes to arrive a day or two early to take in some of the scenery they can do so. There's plenty to see and do here (hiking, wineries, beaches, steam train ride, zip lining, etc). I live in Summerland and plan to take that whole week off so I will be available. The hotel is walking distance to the Saturday car show and downtown shops. There's a lot of amenities nearby (restaurants, fast food, grocery store, gas stations, liquor store, etc) and parking for trucks/trailers. The last meet here in 2019 we filled every room of this hotel and hope to do so again.
  2. Z20 on the body tag. No disputing that it is a real 71 SS454. All assembly required like buying a Monte from IKEA.
  3. Here is how to find and decode the codes on a 70-72 Monte transmission https://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/resources/decodingtransmission/
  4. Welcome! Great looking 71.
  5. Welcome! I’ve also had my 70 Monte for 27 years. 🙂
  6. Yes, the engine and trans numbers would settle this easily.
  7. Hemmings is incorrect as many publications like that often are. There were no SS454 4-speeds or LS6 in a Monte from the factory. In any case, both are great cars. 🙂
  8. I drove the low mile survivor 72 Monte to work three times this week (150 miles). I passed 12,000 miles on the odometer. Here’s a couple of my lunch break photos.
  9. I have not seen that available. The hood blanket is pretty easy to cut so you could order a full blanket and cut it up to fit the holes.

    Built Sheet

No build sheets in a Flint car but there are still ways to verify a factory 4-speed 1. VIN stamped on the 4-speed transmission. More details here. https://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/resources/decodingtransmission/ 2. VIN and proper code on the engine block. https://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/resources/decodingengine/ 3. Code for the transmission on the Protectoplate. Not common that the protectoplate is still with the car but some are. https://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/resources/protectoplate/ 4. If originally sold by a Canadian dealer you can get the GM Canada paperwork showing the option list.
  11. American Graffiti Vanishing Point (original) Gone in 60 Seconds (original)
  12. Welcome! This is a great group here.
  13. Check out this thermostat. I’ve never seen one like it before. The thermostat housing was weeping a little on the intake so I needed to fix that.
  14. I do a similar thing considering the age of my Monte when I got it. My 1970 Monte was 26 years old when I got it in 1996. That would be the equivalent of my daughter buying a 1997 coupe today. The Monte seemed like a classic car when I got it in 1996. A 1997 Monte Carlo doesn’t seem like a classic car to me but that’s maybe my age showing.
  15. There was a 1972 Custom at the Western Meet with the air shock compressor.
  16. The way I read the production stats on those last three sheets posted by Vaughn is the total built in Canada just for the US market and not the total built in Canada.
  17. The Superlift is listed in the 1972 brochure
  18. Good to hear from you Capri 🙂
  19. There’s several other decoder pages here also https://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/resources/resourcespage/
