We are supposed to get into the 40s by Saturday.

+16F today. The -30 with windchill was short lived but still brutal.

One of my staff has a Model 3 and she loves it. It is super fast too (dual motor, performance package). She drives a lifted Dodge Power Wagon in the winter though.

Welcome! This is a great group here. Nice Monte you found, enjoy!

Congrats on your purchase Danny!

You are correct. From the factory those 4 smaller circles were not chrome. All other guages had the chrome. It was not optional.

I wasn’t even aware there were two different alternators.

Nice car but not even close to $100k caliber.

15 rooms booked, 11 rooms available

My 70 built Oct 1969 had black rockers. So did my other original paint 72s Ive owned. I have heard that for some darker colours the factory didn’t paint the black rockers but I have not seen first hand evidence of this.

Nice car. Midnight Bronze is a great colour.

There's a lot of people that like to tell stories. The 4-speed simply was not available with the SS454 package. If there was one I think a documented one would have surfaced by now. Every time one of those stories comes up there is either proven wrong or they simply do not have proof.

Welcome! As mentioned above you can prove the factory 4-speed by the numbers stamped on the engine or the transmission.

What did you do to your Monte Carlo today?

It was actually warm enough to push the 70 out of the garage to wash the firewall and frame getting it ready for paint. Also washed up the bumper filler so it can paint it the correct silver colour. The body shop back in 2000 painted it body colour in error. -

I replaced the accelerator pump in the 71 SS yesterday to resolve some fuel issues I was having. I was able to get out for a test drive today. -
If you can get the latch to function by manually moving the paddle at the top or pulling on the lever on the side of the latch then it sounds like maybe the latch itself works but the rods in the door aren’t pulling like they should. It could be as simple as needing lubrication. One other thing I ran into is that the pushrod on the outer door handle button wasn’t long enough to push the paddle on the latch the necessary amount to open the door. I had a door handle button with a longer pushrod and cut it down to the desired length. It now opens without a problem using the door handle.

Maybe the lock is the problem in your case. It could be that when you pull the knob back up it is not going up far enough. Will it open from the inside?

The guy who purchased mine in September drove it 1,700 miles home to Iowa without a hiccup. It really is an amazing driving car like it was new. I only maintained what was necessary (bleed brakes, change all fluids, change filters, new belts/hoses, new tires). The car still had original shocks, plug wires, etc. The guy has since added another 1,000 miles since he got it home. I sold it for less than half of the car posted. As for your car, I can see someone who really wanted it offering $35k. That is on the high end for a small block but not out of line for a really well maintained 350 car in great condition with some of the prices I’ve seen.

I sold a 72 with 12,000 miles for A LOT less. The paint on mine wasn't as nice though. There's been more restoration and work done for a car with only 19,000 miles than I expect but it could be they simply wanted to pretty it up.
