Knight's Crest emblem history?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I don't know if this question has been answered before,

But whats the history behind our wonderful Knight's crest.

Where did it come from, what does it mean, and why was

It used on the Monte.

Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly apreaciated.

Again sorry if asked before.

Good question, when I researched it I really couldn't find anything solid. There are a bunch of personal opinions on it but nothing substantial.

Click on the below link for Monaco/Monte Carlo Coat of Arms. I susoedt Chevrolet used a combination of several of these crests to design the one they used for our cars. Most of them use the red and white theme and a number of them use a knight head. Definately a French Flair.

Interesting Rob. I do see the resemblance.

But I wonder if GM actually put more thought into it.

Was there ever a round table meeting regarding what the

Symbol was suppose to project. A design study or clay model.

Symbols have meanings, thought, expression. I will except nothing

Less from this great vehicle.

Thank you everyone for your opinions. I feel were headed in

The right direction in understanding what guides our montes path.

I have the "Monte Carlo Rally" badge on my grill...there's been a lot of close up fotos of it taken at shows.

If there no pictures of it on your grill it rea lly isnt there!! You should know better than leaving us an opening like that.

Once upon a time there was this knight see....and his name was Monte.... smile

This is interesting and I'd like to know more about the history of it as well. The creator(s) was a true artist. Keep in mind the limitations of the time for graphics and design. I remember when I first started at the newspaper back in the early 80's. We were publishing a Wheels section regularly and it won awards often. The Guy (Paul) who did the front pages for it actually airbrushed the graphics for it. He is an amazingly talented guy and was the guitar player in a band called Wednesday in the early 70's. The money he made from one of the albums back then, he used to buy a new Triumph TR6 which he still owns and it is mint. smile
