Leghome
I have all of my parts to start the reassembly of my engine. One thing that I cannot remember is where the dielectric grease goes in the cap, under the rubber washer, on top, between the spring and coil or someplace else? I want to make sure I do this right so there are no problems in the future. My remembererer is not workin as well as the forgeterer these days. Leghome
I think I have found my answer but want to double check. NO grease in that area only where the module mounts. Is This correct?
stangeba
I don't have HEI, still points, but remember at the Buick dealership I worked at for one year, 1981, our "best" mechanic was always selling in a PM that the dielectric grease be cleaned off and reapplied under the module every year. He was the shop's lead moneymaker and later started his own shops. I also thought I remember hearing to put a dab on the ends of each spark plug wire, don't quote me on this. Stick with "under the module" Bruce
Leghome
Thanks Bruce I did remember the spark plug tip and also will put a dab on the distributor terminal to help with conductivity and ease of removing the wires.
footballubet
It goes under the module. As well as the terminals and plug ends.

FASTSS454
I always smeared a layer on both sides of the rubber washer between the coil and cap it keeps moisture out.
502ci
Don't be afraid to put dielectric grease on any electrical contacts...not necessary every where but it can't hurt.
