Mike Brichta
I was going through my 70 engine compartment lighting harness today and noticed that the headlight plugs have the opening for the fiber optic connections. Since my car did not have the fiber optic option I was wondering if these were installed on all harnesses in 1970 whether they had that option or not. Just curious if this is something that someone could be looking for. Thanks!! Mike
Rob Peters
Mike, I was wondering the same thing. When I bought my 70 Monte one of the things that caught my eye was the fiber optic light monitor option and in checking it out to see how it worked I noticed that the fiber optic for the headlights plugged right into a hole in the headlight plug. It is my guess that they had one plug for the 70 rather than two different wiring harness's. I know CK Collins installed the Fiber Optic system on his 70 and he may know if he had to change his headlight plugs. rob
Grant MacPherson
I have the option on my 70 and I also had it on a 1989 olds 98. my guess the the plug is the same regardless because it needs to accomadate the glass nipple that protrubes from the back of the bulb. I think the vigilite system just addapted to fit the standard plug.
Jared Richey
Yes that's right Even the parking light housing had a little flat spot where the hole would be drilled it just wasn't drilled
