  1. BFH! Lolol. Sorry , had to. What do you mean? Won't go into the trans? With the rear end hanging it's too long?
  2. It is white, BUT it's a 69 mustang convertible. Lol
  3. Dixie Auto Repair also works on RV's and trailers. If you call, mention the club.
  4. Hello all Fla residents. My friends repair shop is Dixie Auto Repair. 2630 Dixie Highway, Wilton Manors Fla. Google him and make your own choice but I know he does first rate work.
  5. Depends on how you see rare. A 402 car is not rare compared to a 454 car but is rare compared to the number of small block cars. My "barn find" even though a 71 is 1 of only 8633ish 402 cars made in 71. Not as rare as a 1 of 1919 SS 454. But neither are as rare as my 1 of 80 71 402 4speed car. But all are rare compared to a small block car. And by no means am I putting down a small block car. Just that they are more common due to the fact more small block Monte Carlo's were made for all 3 years.
  6. Me too. Lol. I will find out for you. What part are you in?
  7. Ummm, yes. In order for the th400 electric kick down to work, it needs power. Otherwise you would have to manually downshift the trans to get the same reaction. It works off of the kickdown switch that is located at the top of the accelerator pedal. All parts, pedal mount, switch and wiring harness are repoped by the aftermarket. Power goes into the switch and when you push the pedal down, usually close to the floor, the pedal moves the switch there by sending power down to the trans and kicking in the kick down.
  8. Welcome JJ. Ambitious plans indeed. What part of Fla are you in? I have a friend who relocated to Fla and opened another shop, general repair but has and loves doing exactly what you are looking to do. For power and reliability I would look into the GM crate engine, trans, harness, computer combo. Very hard to beat in price when you consider all the components separately. Again, welcome!
  9. In the driver's door jamb on the door there should be a sticker indicating the month and year. Also on the trim tag there should be a code.
  10. Welcome! More pics!!! Lol
  11. Bushing unless it has spun in the tailshaft housing. There will always be some up and down play. Don't get worried if, when you have the tailhousing off and happen to touch/grab the tailshaft itself that it has play also. It is normal.
  12. I'm running 275/60r15 on 15x8 rally wheels with 4.5 backspacing. My outer lip was trimmed slightly sometime in its life. I would recommend a 5 inch b.s. for a 15x8 and a 5.5 b.s. on a 15x10.
  13. Welcome Dan! That's what we are here for. To help each other and get help when needed.
  14. Dennis, that emblem with the "bowtie" under it is from a 78-80 Monte Carlo. The tailpanel Monte Carlo script for the 70-71 is larger than the sail panel ones. I have an NOS tailpanel emblem somewhere in my stash. It's allocated for the 402 4speed restoration though. Last summer I installed a repop on my 70 SS. I know they make them.
  15. Jeff, the Monte Carlo tailpanel script is separate from the "by Chevrolet" and the "SS". It is the same from 70-71. The by Chevrolet differs in the lettering and mounting stud position from 70 to 71. The SS tailpanel emblem bolts directly in place of the by Chevrolet emblem on the 71s. You would have to modify/drill new holes to put the SS on a 70. I believe the large Monte Carlo script is reproduced by trim parts. Try the parts place.
  16. Hey! I don't have that plate on my car! How'd ya get apic with it on?!? Lololol
  17. On which car? Lol. All 3 have the factory wire "gutter". You can purchase it aftermarket.
  18. Bottom- "Big Red" my 1970 SS, rectangle port 990 heads, solid lifter, pump gas 496. Middle- My son's 1971, vortec head, roller cam, 355 Top- "Barn find" 1971 402 stock
  19. Good eyes! Lol. The brake booster line is going to a vacuum pump for the brakes that I installed behind the washer bottle. Lots of room there. On the passenger side, same area I have the MSD6al. All hidden. Lol
  20. Edelbrock RPM air gap, one inch spacer and stock z/28 dual snorkel air cleaner. No issues what so ever.
  21. Yes they came with p/s boxes that have 4 mounting areas but use only 3.
  22. You use 3 mounting bolts for the Monte. The boxes have 4 mounting areas for different applications.
