    454 or 467?

Andy, good eye. But they are stock production valve covers. They have a spacer between the head and stock valve cover. Lol Nothing on the performer RPM air gap intake? 1/2 fuel line? Headers? Msd ignition? Painted Holley fuel pump? Lolol I guess my wanting it to look stock ish worked. Lololol
  2. Plug is oil fouled. Most likely worn valve guide.

Sneaky valve covers? Lolol what is sneaky about them? They are stock valve covers.
  4. Yes, you are good to go with that combo and will enjoy it greatly.
  5. Welcome Mike! We would love to see some pics of your restoration.
  6. Hey Lou. The only definate way to tell if a Monte was a factory big block or not without a build sheet is the steering column shaft. The big block cars, 402 and 454 had a bolt in shaft at the flange that bolts to to the rag joint. Small block cars are pressed in. All other things, 12 bolt, air ride, gauges, f41 suspension could be ordered an small block cars also.
  7. He is referring to the chrome trim between the bumper and headlight extensions.

    454 or 467?

You certainly will! We have a friend who just installed a 460- .030 454 built by vortecpro. He installed it into a 72 Monte Carlo with a 3:42 and th400 a few months ago. He loves it! In our opinion, mark builds a nice engine package.
  9. Welcome! Sounds like a nice find! Any pics? Lolol

    Body tag info.

Your car is a non vinyl top car. Without seeing pics couldn't tell you if it was dealer installed or aftermarket.

What cubic inch? With my 496 and 3.31 gear I have way too much torque. Fries the tires at will in any gear. Lolol Good luck!
  12. Rob is correct. The Monte Carlo on the tail panel is bigger. I purchased mine from The Parts Place. Looks good, fits good and finish is good. I believe they repop the sail panel emblems now. If not I do have a few sets of NOS sail panel emblems.
  13. Hey Bob. I believe so. It was on Craigslist 4 yrs ago. You are very close. Lolol
  14. My brother, myself, son and 4 other friends took our cars out for the first time this year and all cruised down the the beach together for a gathering of around 100 cars that takes place every Sunday. We had the only Monte Carlos there and both SS454s.
  15. Looks like a beautiful day and great company! Love the pics!!!
  16. Dont forget the braces for under the trunk floor.
  17. Welcome Paul! Sounds like a nice project you are getting into. The 6.2 swap is a good one. Reliability, power and gas milage. Kinda hard to beat! I personally have not tubbed a Monte. I did purchase one tho. Thought it was a builder but turned out to be a pig with lipstick. Too far gone so we parted it out. It had a S&W rear frame kit. Very nice option as opposed to figuring it all out. Just a thought. It was a 70 with 72 tail panel trim added.
  18. Thank you. It's my brother's and for sale. 1977 Pontiac Grand Le Mans 9 pass wagon. 73,000 original miles. 6.0 LS swap with atomic efi. Th400. Factory non a/c car. Blue with factory woodgrain on the bottom. Sweet ride!

.060 and 4.250 stroke to 496! You will never regret it!
  20. Hello everyone. Today we swapped rears in the "Barn Find" from the 10 bolt that was not factory installed to the 12 bolt from "Big Red" that turns out to be gear code and date code correct for Barn Find. Also installed the rear GM gas charged shocks, painted grey, from the Ground Up kit they sell and new emergency brake cables due to the 10 bolts being siezed. Those were in stock 6yrs. Lol
  21. The power seat I believe is powered by a circuit breaker. Like the power windows. Check for power going to and from the breaker. Make sure you have power at the motor. If you do, then most likely the motor is no good. You can disconnect the cables from the motor and use a drill to manually move the tracks for a better seat position for the time being.
