  1. Looks like we are up to 14 cars and I have a PM on another one that may be coming from someone who needs a room... Steve, I told him to contact you. That would make it 15 and sounds like a great turnout, I can't wait
  2. Keep them coming guys. I may wait till early or mid next week to let them know we will have this many First Gen Monte's from our club. 11 as of right now, good job everyone. rob
  3. Dave, if it is Monte's Rock shouldn't it be Rick's Rock?... Now we are going to have to have a T-Shirt made up that says Rick Rocks to go with our Monte's Rock. rob
  4. I think most of us are staying at the same hotel so we will all be staying and hanging with the NY Monte Club. If you can bring the 70 it looks like we will have 10 or 11 Members cars there. Not a bad turnout. rob
  5. Good Job to a Great Team of Family Members. Thanks to all who jumped in to assist. Rob
  6. Please only respond to this post if you are going to Carlisle. Please provide the following information. Your First and Last Name: The Year and color of your Monte: The Day You Will Arrive: Number of people in your party: If you are in a group of people traveling together I will need this information for each car so either everyone reply or one person reply with all of the information. Your First and Last Name: Rob Peters The Year and color of your Monte: 1970 Astro Blue/Classic White The Day You Will Arrive: Friday Number of people in your party: 1 or 2 Rob
  7. It was great to see not only old friends from the club but it was amazing the number of first time attendees at the meet. It is always great to put faces with the screen names here. Mike it was great to meet you and I appreciat your assistance with the pictures, it was greatly appreciated how you took over my camera while I had other things I needed to do during the awards, raffle, auction and holding grandkids. I am glad you made it back with no issues and I look forward to seeing you again in Carlisle a week from this Friday. Give me a PM with your cell phone and since you may not be bringing your car along to Carlisle you are welcome to ride with me to and from the show from the hotel. My cell is 412-298-2645. Rob
  8. I echo everything posted above. Everything went perfectly. It was great seeing everyone again and as always I am already looking forward to next year's meet. The hotel staff were the best. It was hard to walk past one of the hotel employees without them asking how your stay is going. I didn't get a chance to use the water parks until Saturday night after the awards banquet and even the staff in there were great. Special thanks goes out to everyone who assisted in the rescue of Eli. It was wonderful to see so many people willing to stay up until 2:30AM to rescue a fellow family member. Again Capri and Greg, thanks for everything. Oh yeah, Capri, you missed the conversation I had with Emily. I told her she could pick any car in the parking lot and it is hers..... She picked Scotts but I told her that Bre won't even be able to get her hands on that one and Scott agreed.... I told her to pick another one and she picked yours. Standing next to Greg I told her to continue her conversations with Drake and who knows, maybe it will be his someday and if her conversations with Drake work out it will become hers too... Rob
  9. I've always been tempted to find a longer j-hook and mount my spare right side up so I can dress up the trunk area with a rally cap and ring on the spare. Just never taken the time to do it. Rob
  10. I think on my 70 the spare is mounted upside down with the back side of the rim showing. If I reverse it, I dont' think the J-hook shaft is long enough to fit the base over it and get the wing nut on., Just a note. there is nothing on the floor of the trunk to lock the jack into place. When you tighten the wing nut it places sufficient pressure from the tire on the jack to keep it from rattling around and making noise. Rob
  11. Scott, We will try to meet up with you and Jack along the way. I can't see any sense in heading north first. Patsy and I are planning to leave early too and we will head our past the airport to pick up the PA turnpike just before the Ohio Line. Mike if we dont' get moving in time to meet up with Scott and Jack we will try to meet up with you. Rob
  12. Yes, an old oritional bumper can be straightened out and replated. Rob
  13. If you just have a few chips here and there you can do a quick touchup using a black Sharpe Pen. It will work for a temporary fix but the suggestions of others above are the best solutions. Rob
  14. Try calling (800)222-1020 and and ask for the free GM Restoration package Jake is talking about. Have your VIN available just in case they ask for it. I don't know if they still offer this free service or not but it is worth a try. Just come back here and tell us if you get it. rob
  15. I am so very sorry to see this post. Like everyone else here we were all hoping to see a positive post that Robyn is doing better but that was not to be. God has a plan and at this point in time Robyn was part of that plan. We will all miss Robyn here because he became so much a part of this family we have here. Robyn's fart jokes are a personal thing for me. When I was growing up my Grandfather was always one to have a fart joke and when Robyn would post a fart joke it would bring back so many good memories of my Grandfather. I don't think I will ever be able to watch the Blazing Saddles camp fire scene without not only thinking about my Grandfather but Robyn too. Like most here, I never met Robyn, yes we chatted and exchanged jokes and through these boards became friends and eventually like family. They say you can choose your friends but not your family but in this case we were able to do both with Robyn. We chose him as a friend here on the boards and welcomed him as part of our family. Robyn, like George, you will always be remembered fondly here. You will be missed but it is comforting to know you will always be with us. Thank you for all of your witt and thank you for all of the assistance you provided and most of all, thank you for including us in your life, we are all better people because of you. Mitizi and the entire Lance family are in our thoughts and prayers and if there is ever anything we can do for you please don't hesitate to ask. Rob
  16. Mike and Bill make a very good point. If the car is not set up to be going that fast I would not attempt it. Not only would the car need to be set up properly but it would scare me to do something like this on an open road. Not only because of the other traffic but taking the condidion of the road into the mix would be important. Rob
  17. Leo, Leo, Leo..... there you go bursting our dreams. Come on, admit it, wouldn't you love to come across one of these, if nothing else to try to debunk the owners claim. I think it would be fun to at least look over the owners documentation. rob
  18. I haven't dealt with them and have not heard of them. I know Bumper Boyz deals at many swap meets and they are not the best to purchase a bumper from. Good Luck with the new bumper, did it come with any kind of a warranty, if so, make sure you hang on to the receipt. Rob
  19. So, with a discovery like this, there may still be hope that there is a documented 70 ragtop still out there or one of those elusive Factory SS454 4-Speed's. Rob
  20. The Sky is the limit.... Origionally NASA considered using one as the origional space shuttle but walked away from that idea because they were afraid with all that power it would overshoot our galaxy and transport them into a galaxy far far away.. In an honest response to your question, I don't know, maybe those with 454's installed could respond with how fast they have had theirs up to. rob
  21. Bob, I have never noticed red on the cross bars but not having them on my 70 I have never really looked that closely. Rob
  22. Thank you so much for posting this Sam. Robyn, I think you know you are an important spoke in the wheels here at the FGMCC Nation. Patsy and I send along our thoughts and prayers along to you for a speedy recovery. Please keep us updated on how things are going and let us know if there is anything we can do for you. Rob
  23. If I remember correctly, one piece just slips into the other and extends in about an inch. rob
  24. Sam, Even though mine doesn't have the vinyl top, Chevrolet used the same trim on the Two-Tone Painted cars to separate the colors. I don't have a closeup pictue of it but if I am not mistaken, the vertical piece that attaches the trim at the bottom of the sail panel to the portion over the windows extends about the same distance at the bottom as it does at the top. I think the vertical piece only extends a short distance, maybe an inch and a half or so at the top and bottom. I can't say this for sure but that is what I am seeing in my mind's eye. Rob
  25. Tom, As the others have said, I can't wait to see the pictures. Also, on the Eastern Meet. It would be great to meet you and you already realize that it is not required to have a car at one of the meets. I think most of the meets have had people in attendence without their cars and sometimes I think they have more fun than those of us with our cars there because they aren't spending hours on end cleaning and polishing them but they do get a chance to talk to more of the members. Hope to see you at the Meet and good luck with the SS. Rob
