  1. Put new rear springs and new air shocks in the Monte. Took it for a test ride and gave it a bath. Nygel

  3. I'm getting ready to install MSD Box in my Monte and was wondering where everybody was putting theirs. I have AC hoses running along the fender so there is really no room there. That would have been my first choice. I can bend up a bracket and mount it on the driver side wheelwell, but will have to add some wire for the battery connections and this just seems like a place for future problems. I thought about mounting it inside under the dash, but a few have told me that they make an annoying buzz sound. Also, if anyone has any advice or pics, that would be cool. I have installed one before, but it was in my 55 and I had plenty of room and options. Nygel
  4. Don't know what's right or wrong but I put mine UNDER the springs two and a half years ago and have had zero issues with them. Hope that helps a little. Nygel
  5. Swapped out my starter, wiper switch, carburetor and added a couple of ground cables on Friday and took it on a 500 mile trip over the weekend. Ran like a champ but the wipers still don't work. Nygel
  6. I have been running a Pertronix setup in mine for 2 years with zero problems. Easy to install, even for the inexperienced. I ran one in my jeep for years before with zero issues also. Upgrade the coil and wires while you're at it. Nygel
  7. Pedal going to the floor? I'd say try another master cylinder as well. Bench bleeding always a must! Cheap and easy enough to try. Nygel

  9. I know this is the West Coast, but every time I hit the wrecking yards here, I see lots of early-mid 70's cars with trailer hitches. I'm sure you could find one that's easily adaptable. Nygel

  11. I think the reason alot of people use these types of coolers as opposed to the small finned type that go in front of the radiator is because they offer you the option of placing it elsewhere. I, and a buddy of mine both have these coolers mounted on our frame rails right next to the tranny so the cooler lines are nice and short and clean. Both of us do not use our radiator tranny coolers and both of us have had them on in excess of 10 years with zero problems on th350 trannies. I read an article in Car Craft a couple of years ago that said these coolers were more efficient, but I don't know how true that really is. Hope this helps. Nygel
  12. I wouldn't use a spool on a street car. Those things can be awfully scary in the rain. Nygel

  14. I have Pertronix and Taylor wires for about 2 years now and they perform flawless on a daily driver. Don't forget a performance coil. Nygel

  16. I changed mine over a few years back and drive mine year-round, pretty much daily. No issues whatsoever! Easy install. I had one on my old Jeep CJ for about 8 years and never had any issues and was confident enough with it that I had no problems running through the Rubicon with it. I just threw the old points and condenser in the glove box just in case but never needed them. Now I have the old Pertronix from my jeep in a roadside emergency kit in the trunk of my Monte. Don't think I'll ever need it, but it's a piece of mind on road trips. I have the points/condenser in the kit too, just in case. Neither takes up any room or weighs anything. Make sure to use QUALITY wires. I used Taylors. Nygel

  21. Use a timing light. It's the only way. You have to rule the timing out to diagnose it properly. Nygel
  22. Pontiacs of the late 60s early 70s also put it on the passenger side. Should be fairly easily adaptable. Nygel

    I agree on the dipstick tube. Mine is having the same issue right now. I'll be fixing it this weekend. Nygel
