And welcome, Whons!!! Keep the pix coming.

Sounds like a chapter title in a book about a group of lonely women.

Amen, Willie! But then again, I subscribe to the āAdmit nothing, deny everything and demand proofā theory.

Only cuz it was still daylight out when she gangstered my chair. Had it been dusk or later? All bets woulda been off š

Youāre welcome, bud. And whatās funny is I didnāt manage to get them out together to a show or cruise-in this past summer. I tried to alternate cars, but found myself in the ā71 more often as the ā70 was in the trim shop for a new interior for a while. Was this/close once, but the better half got stuck at work late and it was too last minute to recruit a friend to drive one of them to the show. For now, this is pretty much the extent of their simultaneous appearanceā¦

I swear that I thought the same thing before even reading your comment. Wonder what may have gone through their minds as they were asked to pose with their car. Cuz I would NEVER pose for ANYTHING on a whim for a complete stranger That said, Iām a sarcastic and sinister MFāer. After the first picture I wouldāve said something like āok, sir, now take your shirt off, please. Weāre gonna do some skin to glass pix nowā just to see the reaction. Yeah, Iām a tad twisted like that š.

Nath, Last musing, I promise! Hereās a portion of the bill of sale I drafted for the ā70. Just a generic description of what I wanted to document what was promised/negotiated work the sale: āSeller to include with the purchase of this vehicle assorted original parts including: intake manifold, carburetor, ignition distributor/cap, bumper guards and factory FM radio. Seller also to include relevant documentation associated with the vehicle, including: receipts & invoices for work done to the vehicle, handwritten notes/bill(s) of sale, build sheet, "Protecto Plate", owner's manual and previous owner registration documents.ā
-
Nath, PS - if the car checks out after being inspected, try to negotiate all or a good portion of the inspection fee off the asking price. Same with the transportation fee. All the seller can say is ānoā, but you have to throw the hook in the water to catch a fish.

Nath, I did exactly this when I bought my ā70 SS. Couldnāt take the time off of work to turn it into a weeklong process had I decided to buy it (car was in California, Iām in Chicagoā¦ 2,100+ miles). Instead, I paid a highly rated inspection service which confirmed everything was as listed and on the up and up. Inspected, 250+ photos of every square inch of the car taken and appraised to arm me with enough info to negotiate without seeing the car in person. Agreed on a price, even working out an allowance for the enclosed transport to get her home. Worst case scenario wouldāve been eating the inspection fee had the car been discovered to be bogusā¦ a small price to pay rather than buying her based on seller-provided pictures only to have her arrive and not be what I though I purchased. As for my subsequent purchase? I did the exact opposite. Bought the ā71 SS after she was listed here by a fellow member. Pictures, FGMCC reputation and an initial phone conversation of over an hour with the seller and I knew it was legit and as represented/described. No need to have an independent party authenticate as the word of an (honest) man is his bond. She arrived just as she was described. Youāre doing it the right way, especially with such a big purchase. And when your inspector gives you the green light, you can always wire the seller a small deposit as a good faith gesture with the understanding (and a written record!) that the car will arrive - exactly as shown, equipped and represented once the deal is finalized and the vehicle is shipped. With both of my purchases, I created a bill of sale which listed every extra part/accessory/document or item of provenance that was to be included in the sale: Build sheet, Protect-O-Plate, receipts, prior registrations, original parts kept after upgrading, etc. A legit seller will have no qualms about signing-off on such a document to facilitate getting his payment. Again, good luck and let us all know how it works out for you.
-
Yes sir, thatād be it. Like others have said, youāll find all the help and education you could ever ask for on this site. Good luck!
-
Forgot to mentionā¦ I see the seller has the Protect-O-Plate. Does he also have a build sheet? (should, as it is a Baltimore built car). If so, and all those numbers check out, youāve got that girlsā ābirth certificatesā. These documents will nicely increase her value providing the original motor, trans and axle are also still with the car.
-
Welcome Nath! What a beauty youāve got your eye on. Barring any rust issues as previously discussed, and first impressions from the pix in the listing, the asking price isnāt all that bad. She looks to have been very well cared for. Youāre gonna be getting a thousand thumbs up every time your drive her. Best of luck with the purchase and keep us posted.

It def is a KILLInois registration.

You might be on to somethinā there.

With my luck, a passing motorist would take my door off while giving me the fingerā¦ reflective GM sticker or no reflective GM sticker.

Looks like a perfect day weather-wise with a nice group of First Gens. That said, Iāll never understand why grown men feel the need to pose stuffed animals or other nonsensical BS with their cars. I mean, do these guys still live with their parents and sleep with stuffed animals too?

The more I look at it, particularly the driver side damage, something makes me think a jumbo forklift MAY have been responsible (dragged down from top to bottom). The boo-boo on the fender is pretty squared off at the bottom of the defect and the direction of the damage flows from top down. Look at how clean the crease in the roof is, also - pretty much 90Ā° If not a forklift, two very heavy items with right angles (steel beams, perhaps?) were dropped on this car. There is no other evidence to suggest it was rolled (Thereād be more damage to every panel on the car if that was the case). And as to the damage to the passenger quarter? Who knows. Either way, this sounds like a job for Dennis.

Welcome Rob! She looks super clean. PS - stay away from Dennis & Joe
