  1. I recently took mine apart to refurbish. There was still a faint gold coating on it, which appeared to be cadmium, so I had it Cad plated. I'm happy with it (just my preference) although I also think the black looks great! One thing I did was polish the rear piece. When I jave some time, I will be going back to the way it came from the factory; I think it looks better that way!
  2. Very knowledgeable man with power seat units, especially Bench seats! His name is Gary Thorne pins.thorne@gmail.com Jeff 1970 SS454
  3. I have 1 Hood spear for 1971. Complete with mounting pins. Excellent condition. $40. shipping to US will be $15. I am listing more and more parts this week and will combine shipping on whatever you buy. I charge ONLY ACTUAL SHIPPING, no handling charges ever Jeff
  4. Correct! It matches the dash and even has the small "grooves" on the print. Looks and feels real.
  5. Great Post & information Aaron! ๐Ÿ‘ Suggestions by others made it even more complete! I'm a 35 year Monte junkie, and learned a few things here! This forum has so much knowledge! Thanks to ALL!๐Ÿ˜Ž
  6. Ok, i went to the shop and found the invoice. Here's the guy I bought them from
  7. I will be at the shop today and look at my invoice to see where i got these. Btw, there are several out there...some with accurate patterns, others not so great! Jeff
  8. I am an old-school sign painter of 35 years and a graphic artist with 25 years of experience using vinyl overlays (now called "wraps") I recently bought what seemed to be the best and closest reproduction wood grain vinyl for the console insert. Although it is very good quality, the fact that they "die cut" the final pieces to fit exactly is the biggest problem! The manufacturers should have produced these vinyl pieces larger than needed so that the end user could trim them to size, because #1, you can almost never place something which is the exact size with proper accuracy. #2 There's shrinkage Jerry! *Seinfeld reference* You can see where it shrank (the white edges of the backing sheet). The end result is the vinyl ramping up over the chrome edge on the shifter bezel; it fits on one side but not the other. To be fair, I contacted the distributor and he was quite concerned. He said he would replace this for me once he got this figured out. Easy fix? Make the pieces L A R G E R than needed so we can trim to fit! Also using a better quality non-shrinking vinyl is key here. A few hot days with the windows up would make it shrink as well! Jeff 1970 SS BLACK
  9. It's hard to believe this was just 50 years ago. We have come a long way as a society, but it's still kind of strange to see two different versions of the exact same press photo, simply based on what appears to be race. A reminder we always need to do better for everyone's sake!๐Ÿ‘
  10. I too have OCD, but also ADHD...and a bad back! (No, not 80-HD.... My friend had an 80 Harley Davidson, and we'd both joke that we each had 80- HD, haha! Either way, your car is stunning! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
  11. Canuck, you being from BC, I thought you may know him, (although I don't know the geography) it's like saying, "hey...you live in that Province, you must know this guy, lol"
  12. WOW! I found a 1972 350 nothing special, but 8,500 miles (stored 34 years) in 2014. I put almost 3,000 VERY enjoyable miles on this time capsule by the time I sold it. (I believe cars are meant to be driven, and was not afraid to put on those miles.) It had some paint loss on drivers fender from sitting in garage for 34 years, but other than that, it was like a new car. The interior, chrome and glass were impeccable! The appraiser listed it as a "True Time Capsule!" It's true, they are only original once! I did not get close to the price of this black one, but I did do extremely well and was able to buy my current SS outright! I will make a full post of it soon. Here's one pic of it.
  13. Just chiming in...You can also replace the motor with a cadillac motor Or a bench seat motor, which is much stronger. Jeff 1970 SS454
  14. I had no idea there were so many in all these scales! Oh no! I am a collector.....๐Ÿ™„ ooh boy!
  15. I admire those who do frame off restos...much braver than myself! Great work!! Jeff 1970 SS454
  16. Man! Thank you so much for posting these! Some I have seen, but others...NEVER! ๐Ÿ‘ I collect old Monte (GM Photos) and will be posting some of them once I hook up my scanner.
  17. You could fit a Monte Car-LOAD! Great decision on GM's part to NOT produce this!๐Ÿ˜
  18. I bought this new from a GM dealership in 1982 and never used it. It's for a small block Chevy from 1969-1974 . GM sticker still on it. Part#6272719 I'm asking $50 for it. Thanks, Jeff
  19. This has stumped me for decades, since my first 71 (in 1981). I'd love to have an answer! (or at least a funny guess?) Anyone? Bueller? ๐Ÿคช
  20. Yikes....Looking at your Protect-O-Plate, it seems like you have a CORDOBA! (much more to worry about than a TYPO!, lol!) Keeding! I am KEEDING! Jeff 1970 SS454 BLACK
  21. I love the details and slight differences between the 1970, 71 and 72 Montes. These grille emblems not only just fit the grille for the specific years they came out, but also have slight identifiers in the Roman Numerals as seen at the top of the knight's helmet. (This is also true for trunk emblems in 1971 & 72.) Does anyone know why in 1972, they didn't just add another line beside the numeral for 1971? *There was certainly room for it! Jeff 1970 SS454
  22. Took this artsy pic over the summer as I was driving home from the lake. Kind of makes me think of a Tarantino poster. Is it an SS? (yeSS) Jeff 1970 SS454 Black
  23. Rob, MUCH THANKS for this! I am definitely going to look into these! I may be new to this site, but am 40 Years into the Monte! Am on my third SS since 1983! And starting in 1981, had 4 other 350's from 70-72) Jeff 1970 SS454
  24. They simply clamp on... No muss, no fuss! I did have to "spring" for 2 packages though๐Ÿ˜‰ Jeff
