  1. Roger this is the kickdown switch http://www.ss396.com/chevelle/ATE-2101.html most of the after market vendors carry it. If the arm is all the way down you can pull it up and it will center it self. You might be able to find it at a GM dealer as well.
  2. Doug the kick down switch worked both the kick down of the trans and open a inner door in the cowl induction hood. Both the switch and bracket can be brought through the aftermarket along with the harness.
  3. Did a test fit for the air cleaner and don't think this one will be running the correct air cleaner for the hood . Being a tall deck motor the seal is a thigh fit against the under side of the hood where it meets. So I borrowed an open element air cleaner from the Nomad, it will sit up inside the opening but it hits the bowls on the throttle body . Did get the car to roll good again plus got the front end up so it matches and the jack comes out now.
  4. So the other week we rolled the 72 out after doing the swap to coil overs and noticed the car wouldn't roll as easy as before. Still have to get the front end sitting right but will be losing a weekend of work due to Spring Carlisle coming up.
  5. First thing that comes to mind is do you have power at the coil? If you don't have power at the coil it wont turn over. A picture of the end of the wire is always good to take as each wire has it's own style of end. The box on the fire wall wire gutter is for a TCS if the rest of the system is not there then it wont work as design. With all the damaged wires you have at least in the three pictures you posted I would look at buying a replacement engine harness and front light harness.
  6. Aaron it could be a broken belt in the tire causing the issue as well, also check the ujoints in the drive shaft.
  7. Here is what I have for the 400 trans. It is a single wire unit the needs a ground put in it.
  8. I might have a plug from the last two re-wiring I have done.
  9. Anmette if you are looking to make it a daily driver change the trans for an overdrive trans either a 200-r4 or a 700-r4. Keeping the 3.73 and changing the stall you will still see high RPM's and the gas mileage will be he same. The extra gear in the OD will drop your RPM's down to at least 2500RPM which will keep your stall in its operation sweet spot. Being a 1200 stall that is almost like a stock convertor.
  10. Sounds like the ends inside the connector has worn. You could cut the original end off and put two new ends on the wire. Being a 400 you do need those wires as it is the elec kick down for the trans
  11. That speedo looks good Tony. We pushed the 72 outside yesterday and it was a pain to push would have though the e-brake was on. might have a little clearance issue
  12. Sam I've been following installs of the FItech system on the Chevelle site. Seen good reviews from some of the people over there and a few bad reviews. I think any of the self-learning system have issue. Going to try the Power Injector3 system on the 72 and it that doesn't work it's back to carb for me.
  13. That or the bulbs not in right. Remember LED's need to have power going one way in the bulb. The older style bulbs didn't care which way power goes.
  14. Started out with a car swap. The Nomad is getting a new back window only been out of the car for a year. And the Monte just needs to get out While gathering everything to get the Nomad out (fuel pump not pumping fuel) enjoy the sounds of my 70 big block just purring away
  15. And Tony Leo is up in your neck of the woods. But good ideal on shipping as he has every part you might need if you went and visit.
  16. Paul I picked up this unit from National Parts Depot its a three piece plastic kit which mounts inside the car and sits on the factory package tray. It does mount the 6x9 speakers high but from the rear of the car they look like head rest for the back seat. The third brake light is an LED type bulb and it tied into my new harness that has the third brake light system in it. The panels come in black and for be painted to match. If you don't want all three you can buy just the third brake light by its self and mount it to the stock tray.
  17. Looks good Tony, noticed your fender chrome is higher then the door like mine.
  18. Glen did you use LED's in the cluster? The heater panel is dim due to it only having one bulb to light the whole panel. You might be able to do an LED in the heater control panel which would brighten it up.
  19. This was something I did for my 70 all the prices came out of the red book covering 1964 to 1972 Chevelle's, Camaro's, Impala's, and Monte's. I've made a quite a few up for members using information they provide. I also from one a dealer would have put on the car with dealer installed option
  20. Here is a picture of the valve this is from our 70 El Camino the line on the rear end which goes to the rear brakes tie into it. My 72 is just the brake line from the front to the back with the rear t line connect to it.
  21. Bill what is that sticking out of the dash by the a/c heater control panel? as for paint talk to a paint supply shop they can mix up paint for a spray can.
  22. I think it can be done within Photos on a PC Scott. My PC is currently which has a few different photo tools on it. I could try and convert it on my Mac system.
  23. my 70 is fiber optic and I believe the 71 I did work on years ago was also fiber optic. It does get its light from a bulb in the dash either off the cluster or the heater panel bulb. The 72 I'm doing doesn't have the fiber optic but then again the car has parts from different cars in the interior.
  24. Been almost two years since this project got started and its been a fun project to build, already looking for the finishing line or even a sale price. Yesterday the Hotchiks lowering springs and QA-1 shocks got dropped out in flavor of the Viking coil overs with 450LBS springs which is set at the lowest setting for the springs. Went ahead and bolt the hood back in first time since the 427 tall deck motor has been in the car and found out that the dual snorkel air clearer won't fit. If that is a sign on how the cowl induction air clearer is going to sit the snorkel on it might have to be reworked. Even thought its a work in progress it still looks mean just like that.
  25. It's been a long day got the UMI shock tower brace finally in the 70, it's a tight fit getting in place but its done none. Adjusted the coil over compression and rebound still got to adjust the ride height on the 72. Did bolt the hood back on for a little extra weight but no change
