  1. One way to check is to disconnect the speedo cable at the back of the cluster and bring it down where you can see it. Then take it for a drive. If it stops spinning at any point its in the tranny. If it keeps going then its something in the speedo itself.
  2. Thanks for the tips guys. Will definitely give these a try. (starts hunting for bits of wood that look like the inverse of trim rings)
  3. There are some scratches but also some small dings too. Ideas how to get those out?
  4. Picked up the Rally's. Look good. Will probably need to be sand blasted to clean up the bit of rust developing in the creases but I like them. Rings are a little beat up but will suffice for now.
  5. If you can, get someone to stand beside the car as you reverse. Maybe they can see which side is grabbing. Should look like one tire is not unlocking and pulling the rear end to that side.
  6. Thanks Darren. I'm going to try and buy them.
  7. I see a set of rally rims FW code for sale locally. Are these ok for our monte's? And what size tire can I get on these?
  8. Better show us some pics when you get those in and mounted. I'm probably going to change my rims and might go with wider tires as well. I too use 225/70/15 in Hoosier tires. Not sure if the current rims are 7 or 8 inch. My only issue is I already scrape headers. Need to find something else to tuck them up higher.
  9. Most likely a TCS "transmission controlled spark" sensor. If so you can plug it off. Most people here have done the same. Just had mine removed as it was leaking too.
  10. I use a program on occation to root out those little buggers but its not your everyday user friendly program. Hijackthis Will display every file open, every .dll being used and every program being run. If you have a virus thats being difficult to get rid of this thing can. Only problem is all it does is display EVERYTHING! That includes operating system files, programs you normally use and such. Delete the wrong file and say goodbye to windows... I have cleaned up a number of pc's this way though I never leave it on the pc only because if the owner opens it and clicks the wrong thing its a dead pc.
  11. Ever see the movie Christine? Sounds somewhat similar....
  12. No worries. I can believe that you will get leaks if its a used engine with dino oil. I guess our engines arent really designed with synthetics in mind perhaps.
  13. It is understandable to choose between synthetic and non but as long at the weight is the same the viscosity should be the same as well. the 10w-30 is the viscosity rating that applies to both types of oil and they will flow the same under the same conditions UNLESS you are talking sub-zero temperatures. Then you will notice a difference in oil pressures on startup. While the dino oil will seem to have higher pressures, that is due to its resistance to flow while cold and you could run into lack of oiling. Synthetic oils flow closer to their respective rating over a larger range of temperatures.
  14. That's what I did. Just routed around in a bin full of short pieces of pipe and cut one to size. Never had a problem.
  15. One free program that's good against spyware is Spybot search and destroy. Will catch a lot of stuff. Though it's not a virus scanner so you will still need one of those.
  16. Ok I'm going to treadjack for a second. I am thinking about purchasing a transmission cooler. Question 1: What is the stock transmission line usually made or? Mine is currently stainless steel that is unfortunately leaking at the tranny due to crushed fittings. Qestion 2: Most coolers I've been able to find are barb type. Where would I find a threaded one?
  17. Wow wish my small block did that. How much hp? Specs?

  19. So the fan is speeding up then slowing down? Are you sure its the case fan or is it possibly the cpu fan?
  20. I gazed at her from the end of the driveway, sighed, then got in my 4 banger dd and left for work.

Is there a reason why they no longer put much zinc in todays oils? Is it for environmental reasons or is it to keep costs down. Do todays cars need much zinc and if not is that the reason?
  23. Do you own the modem or is it a unit you rent from your service? I would think you would be upgraded to the newest modem free of charge as it most likely their box. My parents started having problems with their Internet a while back and when we called our provider it turned out the box was just outdated. They sent us a new one within the week. Though take into consideration that I'm from Canada eh.
  24. Could be that the antivirus is cleaning the cookies all the time. If you delete them you will have to resign in. May be a setting in the software that has it clean temp files and browser cookies.
