  1. Thanks Tom, so swapping the overdrive transmission like 4L80E with 10 bolt (8.2 or 8.5) will improve mileage?
  2. I bought my radiator support bushings only from parts place.
  3. Forgive my ignorance Tom! I was just wondering what I can do to get a better mileage.
  4. I got Pertronix Ignitor III and replaced it with the point, runs well!
  5. Steve, thanks will check. I’m wondering if I have 8.5 as I can swap with 4L80E to get better gas?
  6. Yes, still use the coil as it retain stock look if you want that way.
  7. Good to know as I replaced the box on 72 C15 as it had 4 bolts.
  8. Curious how do I know if I have 8.2 or 8.5 10 bolt? Am considering to replace on my 71 Monte and 72 C15 for better gas
  9. Mike, from what I know that these are not reproduced as I was able to secure a good used set from Jared Richey.
  10. Nice Monte! I bought 2bbl and 4bbl air cleaners from Jared Richey as mine has 4bbl but originally was a 2bbl.
  11. I got mine from parts place and fits great with some minor modification to battery tray as others mentioned.
  12. I may be interested depending on costs.
  13. Congratulations Paul! Surely brings back memories when my Monte was brought home and my kids jumped inside
  14. No issue for me, is the vendor doing maintenance?
  15. Did you check ground to the blower?
  16. Yes that’s what I did and did more than one turn on side too. I didn’t have problems with right turns on old gear box. Does that means my steering pump is bad now or should I take the remanufactured gear box for another box?
  17. Thanks Joe, Amazon said that the return line does not fit for Monte Carlo?
  18. I replaced leaky steering box gear with a remanufactured one on 1972 GMC C15 and did perform full turns for left and right (approx 15 each side). Noticed turning to right is harder than turning left than the old gear box (it was 2 weeks ago). Noticed another leak, it was the hoses so I replaced them both today. Did the flush and 15 turns on each side. Right turn still feel more difficult than the original one. Am I missing something here or could it be the steering gear box that need to be replaced again?
  19. Another tip is to measure a corner to an opposite corner where hood would lay on (eg driver front to passenger rear) to ensure it’s same length on both ends. If they are not the same, loose bolts to adjust and Rene aside before tightening bolts.
  20. Tom, welcome to the Monte Madness and love the color!
  21. to the Monte Madness and have fun with your new Monte when you get it!
  22. to the Monte Madness and nice Monte!
  23. I have similar issue, Another place to look at is the purple wire going to starter as it can get brittle being so close the engine for so long. I haven’t replaced it yet but when I wiggle the wire and it started.
  24. Like everyone else shared, jack engine up and need to unbolt the engine mount. Be sure to watch your distribution cap from hitting the firewall.
