Guest
The guy who had my Monte before me decided it was best to drive sheet metal screws through the molding to hold it on after being painted. Anyway, GM isn't making them anymore and I've seen a couple of places that sell repros. Has anyone out there ordered the repros? If so, what kind of quality did you get? I've seen some NOS rocker moldings go for $250. Is that a good price? Thanks, Allen
Guest
WOAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Slow down here. $250 for rocker moldings? I need to get into the parts business......sorry, anyway, I peeked into the OPG catalog (whom I do not do business with) and the original GM rocker panel moldings were $50.55 each. Now they are oversize so shipping's a bit more, but not $250! Just trying to save you some $$$!
Guest
No kidding. That's exactly what I thought. But I've called two different classic parts houses now that listed GM Rocker moldings for 40-50 bucks and they don't have them any more and they say that the moldings have been discontinued. Something is going on in the Monte Carlo rocker molding world but I can't pin it down yet. Thanks, Allen
DaveC
That's what happens when a part is discontinued... supply ceases, price increases. Economics 101!! You still may get lucky and find a pair cheaper than 200-250 though. Good luck

Rob Peters
Allen, If you can get a complete NOS set for $250 I would do it since the cheapest reproduction set I know of is $249 from Muscle Cars Only and the clip kit is another $50. Here is the link to the moulding Jim has at Muscle Cars Only. http://www.musclecarsonly.com/7072MCMOLDINGS.html And here is a link to his web site: http://www.musclecarsonly.com/ by the way, It is my personal opnion the reproductions are not as nice as the NOS. I hope this helps. Rob ------------------ Go Car or Show Car, it doesn't matter, you are welcome here
Guest
Hey Rob. Wrong moldings. I'm looking for the long rocker molding below the body moldings. I'm still searching but there's another set of them for sale on ebay (from the same guy) and they'll probably go for around $250 again. Thanks, Allen

Thanks, Allen Here is where I got most of my new trim from. http://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/montecar.htm The lower rocker moldings are $39 a side + the clips. If you still have your stock clips and can reuse them I would. They moldings are great, but the clips they sent with them did not work as nice as I would have liked. I still have to see if I can tighten them up a little. Ian ------------------http://web.tampabay.rr.com/iann/monte.html
70BlackCherry
I bought a set of NOS rocker moldings last year from: Classix Auto Recyclers. Try their website: classixauto.partslocator.com or send a e-mail to: classixauto@fuse.net I'm not sure if they still have any but they did have about 6 sets as of last summer. Its a small salvage yard in Sharonville Ohio, by Cincinnati, that specializes in pre 1980 GM cars. Their phone number is: 513-733-9191. I paid about $90 for the pair with clips- perfect, still in original GM wrappers. let me know if you have any luck. Bob

Guest
You've got to be kidding. I have a set of rocker moldings I just got for Mom from Paddock. Plus I have mine I still haven't put on the car. This is another post...I can't get the damn clips in. It is really starting to upset me.. Anyway, mom's car was the same way...they put screws in. I am starting to understand why.
