Fire Extinguishers ?

Recommended Posts

So I'm sure others like me carry fire extinguishers in their rides. Years ago I had a small Halon bottle but those were environmentally unfriendly lol. So fast forward now I ride with the typical bottle extinguisher, same as I have in the house and garage. Not preferred but better than nothing.

So my buddy sends me this link, and says he's getting one for his Camaro, the 50 second discharge model (they have a 100 sec model too) Obviously more expensive but reads like its more automobile friendly.

So, what's everyone else using ?

Halotron is a safer version of the Halon systems, but I carry a class "A" carbon dioxide in my trunk.

Not cheap, but having worked in the industry, I kept the outdated ones that were slated for a recharge. There's no expiry date on "private" extinguishers in my jurisdiction.

Ive seen "halon" extinguishers advertised, but maybe the "Halon 1211-1301 Blendis actually Halotron. What I was ignorant of was the discharge times, 10 sec seems a tad short. As mentioned in another thread, my hood isn't the smoothest trying to open either 🤣

I just ordered two of the 50 second Elements after looking at a few tests of them on YouTube. Like that they don’t leave residue/powder etc like traditional extinguishers.  That said, I hope to never have to use them.

Still laughing at the Nitros bottles 🤣

Yea, I never want to need one, but figure a 50 or 100 sec spray is better than the 10 in most conventional bottles.

Let me zoom out on this picture 😁
