AJ1970
Hey everyone, looking for feedback for my black 70 SS. It’s time to replace the vinyl top. There is minor rust but main reason is due to the top is faded. Car is black on black. what do you think - 1. Replace black vinyl top? 2. Remove vinyl, trim, and have roof painted back Thank You
Dtret
It’s all a matter of opinion. What do you want? Are you restoring the car? You can paint and leave the vinyl trim on and from a distance it will look like it had one.
AJ1970
I don’t recall- did 70 models come without vinyl tops? not sure what I’m looking to do yet. I think the cheaper option would be to replace the vinyl.
cny first gen 71
Yes 70 came either way, some were 2 tone also, I'm pretty sure all 3 years came either way plus they could be dealer installed also.. If mine had vinyl when I bought it would be 2 tone now I don't really care for vinyl luckily mine never had vinyl so it's just one color. Canuck
I would replace the vinyl. It is the simplest option and looks good.
