  2. I did order the POWER TRUNK Release because I was still delivering the Detroit News paper. My dad had a vacuum operated PT release on his 66 Olds 98. I thought that was so cool so I ordered it! Funny story.... I have always used my PTR since day one and even removed the key from my key ring until one day 3 years ago, it would NOT open!! I went and got my trunk key and guess what, YEP, it wouldn't open!!!. All this time I had the wrong keys for the trunk from the dealership and didn't know it. I pushed the green button about 100 times and it did open. I took the lock cylinder and keys to a locksmith store and had it repaired. Now both work. I also ordered the SPORT Strg wheel, great option! (It does get sticky over the winter)

    77 for Glen ?

Not my type of a modification I like on a car but some like it. What does amaze me is someone who builds it and then turns around and tries to sell it. The market for it has to be (and I am guessing) like 1% of the classic car market.

  5. Sort of reminds me of April Sloof's First Gen Monte. Some long time members here may remember it rob
  6. Many thanks everyone for the quick replies and warm welcome, it is much appreciated! I will do some searching for GM manuals. I know he likes to stick to himself, which is where I come in since I am quite a bit younger haha, but I will mention it to him. I need to get some pictures of him and the car, all I have is this video (hopefully it uploaded). IMG_5291.MOV
  7. Thank you, guys. Hi Denny. I can make and supply the brackets. I copy my original pair so that they look and fit the same as the originals do. I start with 4 pieces of sheetmetal and I finish the welds to look like they were stamped. I've sold 2 pairs in the last week. All of my products come with a satisfaction guarantee. The brackets are $240 shipped to the 50 states. Dan Janes 573-248-1389 dpjfabts3@gmail.com
  8. Pretty cool! Across all 1971 Chevy A-body cars, only 1,186 bucket cars had power seats.
  9. I have an SS that has a power bucket seat!!

Scott that's what i was thinking!! Even the step might be too high to get on to get in that car!!
  11. Welcome aboard the boards. Your friend should also join the boards and become a dyes paying member of the club. The items Dennis already mentioned are the most important books he could purchase. In addition to those, if he could find a Chilton for it, that would be a bonus buy. rob
  12. Yes Welcome Tyler!!! As Dennis said get the 70 GM manuals. We are always looking to help, so if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!!!
  13. I would agree with Joe, call a driveshaft repair. They will have the parts and know what the best course of action will be!!!
  14. I forgot to add welcome. We’re here if you guys need help
  15. Get the gm assembly manual and the fisher body manual. Book or cd versions are available.
  16. That white painted roof looks great over the Ascot Blue. If it's factory original, it would have been special ordered. The spec pack for 1971 shows the antique white top not available with the Ascot lower color. Ahh, the good old days when they'd let you have almost anything to nail the sale.
  17. Hello, A buddy of mine is the original owner of a 70' SS 454 Monte and I would like to get him a repair manual since his mechanic, who has been working on the car since 1970, is well past retirement and he needs to do some work on it. I know there are the Haynes books and original service manuals, but I want to make sure some of the 70' optional extras are cover aka buy once. I have searched the forums some, but haven't seen anything explicitly recommending a manual, if I missed it, please direct me to the forum page. Thank you for the assistance!
  18. Mine is a factory two-tone and it has the fiber optic light monitor system, wiper wash monitor and vanity mirror. None of them super common but very rare in combination on same car. rob
  19. Not including odd combinations of common options such as bucket seats with column shift, do you have a Monte with a factory installed super rare option? Let's see it! -Radio delete? -Front drum brakes? -Manual steering? -Power trunk release? -Rear shoulder harness? -Power seats? -Power release seat back? -Electro-Tip wipers? -Headlight washer/squirters? -Rear shock lift system without SS package? -Two tone paint (painted roof a different color)?
  20. Only 52 days and a wake-up until some of you will start arriving in Carlisle for our Eastern Meet. rob
  21. If your KYBs failed that soon, they are defective. I installed 4 KYB Gas Adjust shocks on my 62 Impala SS 11 years ago, now after 15000 miles they still give excellent handling and ride. I recently installed them on my 70 MC SS 454 on the front and like them. After experiencing a very harsh ride on a 3500 Chevy van and on an 87 Camaro with Bilsteins, I will never purchase them again. .

    Newbie 1970

Looks like you’re well under way, Kevin. I envy you guys with skills to tackle s^#t like that. Again, welcome, and keep us updated with your progress.
  23. I did a little more research on the trans and it is out of a 70's truck, so I need a counterbore yoke 32 spline I believe. Also, just asking here, if the 400 sits further back and I need to get the driveshaft cut could I just buy the right yoke with a new UV joint and when I get the yoke end of the driveshaft cut and replaced with the new yoke and UV? Since the I am staying with my 12 bolt and have the pinion UV still I could reuse that whole end right?
