  2. I think it would be over $40k too for a quality conversion . Not many around and very expensive to build one.
  3. Hello Matt, Welcome to the FGMCC! I think you may need the part under the steering wheel, pictured below. Only problem is you have to remove the steering wheel to get to it. The one on the left pictured came with a steering wheel I got, the green is OEM. I'll look around for a source, worst case I'll send you the white one. That being said, I tend to like the OEM for that stuff as I've had aftermarket horn hardware not work as good. Green may be non-tilt, White may be for tilt column. I may call your number too 🙂 EDIT: Amazon has a couple, though it makes a difference if it's a tilt I think, https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-83233-Turn-Signal-Cam/dp/B0024GMB82/ref=pd_lpo_sccl_1/135-1592424-0550804?pd_rd_w=UuGkt&content-id=amzn1.sym.1ad2066f-97d2-4731-9356-36b3edf1ae04&pf_rd_p=1ad2066f-97d2-4731-9356-36b3edf1ae04&pf_rd_r=MR58Y30Y8Z7XZFVCYB9T&pd_rd_wg=cuy2G&pd_rd_r=04f7b1e4-eb04-4c4a-8f8c-5f8ae46ff7fd&pd_rd_i=B0024GMB82&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/VSW-Non-Tele-Compatible-1969-1996-STC1007/dp/B07QQ3PNGB?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A18017VO8YGHY3 From Muscle Car Central: https://www.musclecarcentral.com/1969-1972-Chevelle-and-Nova-Horn-Contact-p/ste-112.htm https://www.musclecarcentral.com/1967-1972-Chevelle-Nova-Horn-Contact-Cam-p/ste-111a.htm From SS396: https://www.ss396.com/category/monte-carlo-steeringwheelparts.html?page=1
  4. Now it’s happy hour! My favourite rum glass…
  5. Yesterday
  6. We ended up doing a video call for over an hour. That worked out pretty well, made it a lot easier to identify connectors and circuits. His 1970 is a little different than the others, so my old 72 harness I was not quite the same, but still helpful. What did people do years ago before the internet & this high technology, lol. It certainly has made the world a smaller place, and easier to get stuff accomplished, despite some of the downsides of it as well.
  7. Hate to admit it but, give up my Harley for one. Too old to drive it anymore anyway🙂
  8. Last I recall 2022 one sold at Mecum for 40K. Gonna guess a bit more in todays market https://www.mecum.com/lots/532668/1972-chevrolet-monte-carlo-convertible-conversion/
  9. Getting the 71 SS cleaned up for a couple shows this weekend.
  10. 1972 Monte Carlo - stock steering wheel - plunger lock in steering wheel broken (white) - part or part number needed ( Alright, I have been chasing this little gremlin and I believe that I found the issue (even though I tested the Horn Relay and I was eventually able to make the old relay work, the relay itself was badly corroded, it took a while to get the relay to ground, due to the corrosion, and make the horns sound off, so I replaced the relay and cleaned the connections) Next I pulled off the steering wheel cover and found that the spring, plunger, and black lock (all intact) came right out of the hole or were not even in the hole. (See picture - this piece is in good shape) Next I looked into the steering wheel and found that the little lock sleeve (White color) was broken (see picture of steering wheel center and white lock sleeve) - I believe that I will need this part on order to lock in the horn wire spring connector (correct me if I am wrong) I was able to make the horns sound by wiggling the spring horn wire contact in the hole and all worked with that, however without being able to lock the horn wire spring connector in the hole then as soon as I put everything back together it will just pop/fall out again. Does anyone know where I can get the white sleeve lock for inside the steering wheel? (I couldn't seem to find one listed anywhere) Thanks,Matt 661-406-7516
  11. That just shows the personal one on one help that we always strive to give our members and non-members of course. People helping people, than it turns into friends helping friends.
  12. Is there anyone on here that DOESN'T have your number ?????
  13. I'm thinking that Kevin didn't cut the factory original axle..... Looks more like a FoMoCo product under there......
  14. After looking through the fabulous collection of member photos, both private and club gatherings. To all I am humbled by your hard work. If any member comes across a convertible in any condition and doesn't decide to collect it for themselves. "I wouldn't blame you". PLEASE Forward to me for purchase. I promise a good forever home. Am also always interested in any First Gen. Thank you All.
  15. Did you get factory replica/replacement harnesses, or the entire Update Series 510336 harness? I sent you a PM with my number.
  16. This is built into the front lamp harness? I got an engine and front lamp harness from aww but I don't see what would be located inside now.

  18. Does cutting the axel count as a "modification"? 🤣 I'd think the cutoff switch is a "safety" mod and allowed

  23. I've had good luck with the GM Performance Parts water necks actually. O-ring seal & thick enough flange where it doesn't leak. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/nal-12342024?srsltid=AfmBOoqvBMprjF1woC_wd5BZ35O5HtIhT4UtmhTF-5lUT8yi3ljary36llA https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-GM-Performance-12342024-Chrome/dp/B00G51R9VQ?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
  24. Cutting 1" off the free height of any of the front end springs used by GM in the first gen assembly process will reduce its pre-load value by its deflection rate in pounds. If your original spring was any of the three stronger springs (codes GI, GO or GQ in box 13 of your Build Sheet), the front end preload would be reduced by 550 pounds (2 springs x 275 lbs/inch x 1 inch free height reduction). That will, of course, result in lowering the front end but it should not change the ride characteristics since the remaining spring height still has the original deflection rate and is operating at the working height of 11.7" (dictated by the stock front suspension geometry). If the resulting stance and ride are to your liking, then it's all good. What I would be more concerned about is the fairly limited ground clearance you appear to have with your exhaust system between the headers and mufflers. If ground clearance was originally limited, lowering the front end has probably made it a bit worse. I took my '70 to a rural steam engine show several years ago shortly after installing new shorty headers and a larger diameter exhaust system. As I pulled off a recently resurfaced highway onto a rural road, the transition bend coming off the driver's side header collector drug on the edge ridge of the new surface so much it broke the pipe weld. I ended up fabricating a new transition pipe with a much sharper radius to give the exhaust system more ground clearance. Maybe you have straight-back header collectors? Is there any way you can raise your exhaust system between the headers and mufflers to achieve better ground clearance?
  25. those chrome suckers never seal, even if you scuff em !!! been there done that.
