  1. That is for 71 SS Willie. The 70 I believe are colored the same as the interior color. 71 all columns are black. I can't go by Big Red because her interior is black.
  2. 496?! 5speed?! 3:73?! WOW Jeff! That is a beast! Sweet!
  3. Optional wheel, aka the 3 spoke for 70 is only black.
  4. Sounding and looking sweet! Great job!
  5. Sorry for the loss Bill. What happened? What are you looking for? Something done? Something needing work or a total rebuild? Big block? Small block? SS?
  6. I believe the 70 SS had color matched wheel and column where as the 71 SS were all black wheels and columns. Kevin and others know this fact. I am just believing. Lol
  7. Yup, the "snowball" effect. It'll getcha every time! 😂🤣😂🤣

    Crossmember

I have seen early cars without the 2nd body mount you mention Dennis. May be only early Baltimore cars??🤔 Big Red is a Sept of 69 build, but Flint plant. Has both mounts and had the rubber isolator cross member. 4 speed cars had the it directly bolted to the frame cross member. As you know the ones with the isolator rust badly inside. It MAY have been changed for a Chevelle style (direct to frame).
  9. Beautiful! Can't wait to see her all assembled! Beautiful color!
  10. The only color I would believe didn't have the lower black painted from the factory is black. All other colors do not look right without the black. Its on my "to do" list for "Big Red".
  11. Absolutely. Obviously take measurements and not only double check them, quadruple check. Then weld. Lol
  12. Will keep an eye out for it and I hope he finds it quickly. 😓
  13. I doubt that. My son and I did a mixed metal scrap run a few weeks ago. 600lbs = 21.00. Lol don't really scrap for money, just get rid of the clutter.
  14. I have said it. Lol. My moms first and only car was a Baltimore built 70 Monte. 350 2bbl, th350, bench cloth interior. Fiber optic washer and a/c. Cranberry red, black top and interior. Full top and no under light chrome. I have the build sheet somewhere I believe. Now I have to look for it to see when it was built.
  15. Sweet! Great pics! Thank you for sharing.
  16. Normal. The old filter will not be the same color as the new filter. Dirt, contaminants etc discolor the oil which, discolors the filter that traps all the junk.
  17. Time for parts always works for me! Lol
  18. Same here with "Barn Find". She was ordered with the P02 hubcap option. Although right now I have the Corvette style on her.
  19. Knew I saw the car somewhere recently. Nice car but for that money I want the correct seat covers, a 70 steering wheel, not a 71 and the drivers remote mirror instead of the cheapie ones that don't hold their adjustment. Just saying...
  20. Sometimes, when in "race" mode I put billet specialties wheels on "Big Red".
  21. This I know Dennis. ❤️ Ya man!
  22. Like Larry said, only the SS could be had with a 454. The biggest engine for a non-SS Monte Carlo was the 402. 8633 examples of the 402 Monte were produced AND you could also get a 4speed 402 car but NOT a SS454 4speed. Although you could option a non-SS with the same options as an SS except the Z20 package that made it an SS. The 454 and the badging basically.
  23. At least it was a GM product. 🤣😂🤣😂

    72 402

Obviously 50+more cubic inches automatically means more torque and HP right off the bat. If the 402 is numbers matching, making 400 HP is not hard. But also like Joe, you could put the 402 on the side if eventually you want to go back to numbers matching or if you sell the car, you could give the next owner that option and possibly get more money for it with the original engine.
