Inside? The center rear view mirror? Tighten the screw extremely tightly with a big screwdriver. One the same size as the screw so it doesn't slip off and bugger the head. And if yours is loose at the roof, remove the cover and tighten the screws .

I also have the big bulky one on the passenger side that matches the driver's side factory remote one. It hasn't lost its adjustment at all. Especially compared to the much thinner non remote style.
-
Hi Joy. From the pics you posted it looks like you don't have a factory style remote mirror. IDK if your door panel has a cut out in it. What you can do is purchase the manual style mirrors for a 70 Chevelle. They come as a set or you can get just the right side. Hope this helps.

Well the original rear end, numbers on the axle tube for my 70 SS is all ready to be installed. Finished it up today. Now, when to install it so the identical rear, not numbers matching can then be installed into "barn find" . Lolol Decided to do a quick polish to the rear bumper. It looked horrible and wouldn't clean up with a brillo. If you zoom in you can see the b4 and after. Right side is after. Lolol. The bumper is still shot but looks better. Lol

Sorry about your dad. 😓 He left you a nice car. As you will see, there are alot of knowledgeable people here and everyone wants to help. There are no stupid questions, so ask away if you like. Welcome again!

A truly ALL ORIGINAL car! Not rebuilt, repainted, or anything.... All original! Time capsule! They are only ALL original once! Beautiful car. IDK about the price, but beautiful!
-
Welcome Joy!! Nice 70 you have there. Tell us more about it and more pics!!! Lolol

The 70 uses a vented gas cap to prevent the "pressure and popping"
-
You can try that but it will still be the same. I installed a vacuum pump on my 70 SS and have never looked back. No more brake issues. Or you can get a hydroboost system. I went pump. Cheaper and kept the stock look of the engine compartment. I installed the pump under the front fender behind the washer bottle. Out of sight and so are the lines.

Hey Tony. I know its not what you want to hear, but the saying is.... "There's a reason for everything." Sometimes, heck most of the time we don't know what the reason is. I believe you know what it is.... Family and benefits- damn good reason! Sorry for the closed door and happy for the new/re-entered one for you.

Rear Bumper for 1970 Monte Carlo
MC1of80 replied to ffas23@juno.com's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
You can take a standard bumper and drill the holes for the pad but I'm sure the SS bumper had its own part number. No one reproduces the SS bumper, only the standard bumper that I'm sure you know about. -
Big block? Small block? Either one, check out Ground up. Aka ss396.com. They have alot of stuff for our Monte Carlos even though it doesn't specifically say so. Look for the kits they make up. Saves time, headaches and mostly money.

What did you do to your Monte Carlo today?
MC1of80 replied to Canuck's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
Glad to be of assistance and she looks great!!! -
That's great Mike! I'm glad it worked out for you. I just sprayed the 12 bolt with the Eastwood chassis paint.

So, my son decided today to swap out the stock 12 bolt axles in his 12 bolt for the newly "in stock" aftermarket Moser axles that were in my 12bolt before the rebuild. This was the first time for him working on the rear alone. I was assembling my newly rebuilt 12 bolt. He did great and was done quickly. Lolol The weather was HOT!!!
-
This weekends progress between other projects. Lolol The 12 bolt is just about ready for installation into "Big Red" my 70 SS. Have to install the upper bushings for the control arms and install. Maybe this weekend ... 🤔

Looks good! Lots of luck!!

I believe the VIN is on the driver's side above the selector lever/bracket.
-
Ummmm. Even more important than the letter code on the tag, does it have the VIN number stamped on the transmission???
-
Sand blast them, check for cracks, powder coat them cast, reinstall.
-
Not sure with th400 but for example depending on the letter suffix of a 200r4 the valve body, servo, band and such were different. I would say the same for the th400 and th350 also.

Nice Monte. I agree, they look good. I don't like the look with white letters. I feel a whitewall or redline would look better with the PO2 hubcaps. I love the look of Rally's with white letters.

Yeah, no.
