Hey Dan,
Nice following along on your build, she's looking sweet. The old leaking Saginaw steering box,, man talk about frustrated on my first attempt, must of eaten 3 or 4 of the lavender Teflon o rings on the nut rack piston. Finally I got the hang of it.. using a piston ring compressor, cause even putting them in hot boiling water would not do the trick. Good luck let us know how it turns out.
I'm a vinyl top guy as well. Two of mine have tops on them, the third is missing it. It almost seems naked if you will, kinda like wearing a tuxedo with tennis shoes.
Gary,
As far as I know there's two types the spade and the bullet type connectors. All my '70s came with a bullet type and they're both made to unplug from its wire lead. If they're stock you should be able to pull the lead apart.
Choke and fast iddle cam issues would be my first choice. Specially if blipping the throttle corrects it, it's usually how the fast iddle cam is unloaded.
You learn something new everyday, I had my info all wrong. Thanks for clearing it up for us, I thought the lower compression motor would hence have smaller valves. I stand corrected. That's why having this forum is so great, the wealth of knowledge here Is bar none.
Nevertheless a valiant effort of making us laugh. I can't imagine (pardon the pun) being cooped-up, whether it be in a coupe or sedan with a messed up leg. A thumbs up!
My concern would be the sb heads for a 2bbl vs 4bbl, smaller intake valves and lower compression motor. Although, maybe you may be able to lean it far enough to meter properly, my dislike would be...jetting, power valves, or accelerator pump settings. I dislike Holleys for that reason, some would argue, yet that's me. Keep us informed on the outcome, and good luck.
Usually the steering wheel manufacturer will offer a steering wheel hub adapter, I know on my Grant I used a Grant, on the billet I used their adapter as well. Not all steering wheels are compatible.
Brian,
Your project is looking great. Nice choice of color keep posting your progress pics thanks for sharing. Maybe one of the moderators can help you with moving your post.
Very nice indeed! Love the scenery having been there before, I can appreciate. Thanks for sharing Aaron, I have one question, how did you manage having both of your cars there? The weather looked specially nice. Kudos to all that attended, and won awards.
Imagine that a non a/c, 49 states, and possibly federal cars, with two spark control relays, and yet I speak from a 70's model and California emissions control perspective. Yet my 70's if I remember correctly only had an electricly controlled ported vacuum switch. I don't recall them ever having a accelerator control device other than an iddle stop solenoid. Controlling higher RPM for A/C compressor use. I stand corrected, you learn something new everyday.
