  1. Steve, I am sorry but I have not had a chance to get up to where my car is stored to check out what you need. I will as soon as I can. rob
  2. One of the purposes of the solenoid is to prevent engine run-on (dieseleing) after the key is shut off. The idle is set with this solenoid is energized and the solenoid plunger extended. When the key is turned on and the accelerator pedal is depressed the plunger extends to hold the idle at the set position. When the key is turned off the plunger deenergizes and the solenoid plunger retracts which drops the idle position below the set position which in effect starves the engine of gas and helps prevent the dieseling or engine run-on. That said, yes as long as the key is turned on there is 12vdc at that connector. Keep in mind, some of these fans are thermostatically controlled and don't come on until the temperature reaches a set point and don't shut off until the temperature drops below a set point. You may have noticed the fans on some cars continuing to run after the key is shut off. Since power would be cut when the key is shut off the above type of fan setup may not work. rob
  3. Come to our Eastern Meet in Carlisle, Pennsylvania next month and I guarantee you will meet some members there. You can contact me for more information. Time is running low to get registered. rob
  4. Ya gotta love it when nice weather and some spare time come together and = Monte Windshield time rob
  5. Yes, just like many other items that are shared. rob
  6. If it were an SS Monte I would say it would for sure be worth finding a compressor for it because you already have so much of the system still intact. Yes, you can get the compressors but they are costly. Bob (lastss) may have one for sale but I am not sure. I have seen the air ride on a number of Non-SS Monte's but it is not a common option on them. rob
  7. Keith, Looking at your pictures I would say unfortunately I don't think it is a Custom. Two of the things that would lead me to believe this is the Custom Package came with a Sport Mirror and yours is a chrome and the package also came with the belt moulding which is the moulding that is about 3/4 to an inch wide and runs the length of the the side windows and though I can't see this area very well it does not appear this moulding is present. The custom did come with a heavier duty suspension but the air suspension was not part of that but could be ordered as an option but that option could be ordered on any of the first gen Monte's as it appears is what happened with yours. You can go here: for more information on the Custom Package. On another note, it is not too late to make plans to bring your Monte to Carlisle Pa for the Eastern Meet and let us all see her. rob
  8. Steve, When I bought my Monte it only had a little over 30,000 miles on her. She is a 350/350, but I think you already knew that. When I redid my suspension over that winter after I bought it it had the original shocks and they were the spiral design. rob
  9. Hi Carl, I am not sure if you are looking for an original looking reproduction style of battery or just a battery to put into your car to start it. I purchased an original looking style of battery for my Monte. Everything looks completely original but is a maintenance free battery but has "non-functioning" battery fill caps, including the viewing lens in one of the caps. Here is the address and phone number: https://www.yelp.com/biz/new-castle-battery-mfg-new-castle-2 rob

    71 SS

Keep those pictures coming Joe. Love the progress. rob
  11. Is this the one you are talking about? If so I think the whole piece is available either NOS or reproduction. The Parts Place stocks them https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/ rob
  12. Happy Anniversary Michael and Ann. Wow Michael, I can't imagine going down the track on one of those things. Not much protection if a suspension part fails. I guess they wear something like motorcycle leathers. rob
  13. First Off Steve, WELCOME BACK to posting here, I look forward to seeing you again in June. I can tell you that you are not going to be able to use Photobucket anymore as your host site for your photo's. I went into my profile to see if I could figure out how to tell you what to do but I could not figure it out so I will need to let someone with more knowledge help you out with that..... I have tried but failed you. If I am not mistaken you can post your pictures here in the site gallery and use that as your host site. See you at the Eastern Meet in Carlisle, Pa. rob
  14. If I am not mistaken, I think there is a relay for the High Blower speed. Mine works on high but not on any of the other speeds but I have not had a chance to look into that so if anyone else has any ideas on that please let me know...... Not that I am trying to Hijack your post here. rob
  15. All good ideas and all of these ideas will work. I have used the toothpick trick many times for many different projects auto and non auto related and it works very well. When doint the toothpick trick I will even use some wood glue with the toothpicks. I have also used the drywall anchors for both auto and other projects. I think will all of the different ideas presented here you should have success with any of them and won't need to replace the dash pad unless it cracks. rob
  16. With so many delays since the first part of March when the tree fell onto our deck o am making progress on the deck rebuild. The delays were two-fold, first waiting for the insurance and me removing the tree, then winter decided to hang on for weeks, dropping snow at every opportunity. I have, with assistance from my son, his father-in-law and his nephew we have all of the facing boards gitten, new posts and new decking boards replaced. Next comes the new railings and new spindles followed by the new steps. rob
  17. There is a ton of information here on the site. by asking questions here and all over the internet. Many of us here have learned by doing. Never be afraid to try to fix something yourself, that is how you learn. The more you learn, the easier things will bet to be to fix in other areas of the car. A lot of things in troubleshooting a problem is pure logic. The more you can repair yourself the more money you will have to spend on other areas of the car. When you get frustrated, take a break.... or throw a wrench across the garage (just don't let the Monte, a human or another vehicle be in the path of the flying wrench. Sometimes adult beverages help in repairs but not always. rob
  18. WOW Leo, if I still had a dog he would say that is really Ruff. That will be a definite labor of love. rob

    Halo top

Not that I know of Steve. I am not sure if a 70 assembly manual would have this information or not Maybe a member who has their vinyl top off could take some pictures for him. I don't really know if the exact placement of the studs is all that critical but just to be sure I would rely on feedback from a member with their top and trim removed. rob

    Halo top

Steve, I would let him decide. I personally also like the full halo top but since I have a 70 with one that may be swaying my opinion. I would show him several pictures of one with and without the full halo tops and let him decide which he likes better. You can purchase new screw in studs that I have heard work well and think that would be the least costly than trying to weld studs back on. rob
  21. I'm still lovin the attention to detail. Keep the pictures coming
  22. No, there is really no adjustment. When you had the assembly out would have been the time to attempt repairs. It is possible the actual float material is waterlogged or the float is binding. . rob
  23. I had to replace my pump a year ago. Mine quit working and I wanted to rebuild it but found the plunger broken inside and could not rebuild mine. I was able to purchase one from advance auto parts. I just put in the year of my Monte Carlo and purchased the one that came up for my year Monte. It doesn't look completely original but it fit perfectly. rob
