  1. Nice Car. I like the 80s Grand Nationals.
  2. Hey Man. that is a sweet Monte. Looks a lot like Tony's.
  3. I have the 5" MONSTER Auto Gage Tach by Autometer. I know I know, but the huge tach looks cool and are pretty. If a 4 cylinder civic with neons, a boom boom and a some stickers has a huge tach, I want one too. I have came up with an idea, I think I will mount it on the A-pillar. Bill, Yeah it has a Factory Tach, don't know if it works or not but the Gauge Dash looks better than dummy lights so I left it in there, all except for the fuel gauge and headlight switch, the whole gauge cluster will be worthless.
  4. I need to know some ideas where to mount my tach. I really don't want to get into custom making brackets. I also am not going to cut into my dash pad. Any ideas? Pics would be nice. Thanks!
  5. Hey don't be ashamed, you got to start somewhere . My ole 70 I used to have with a 2 barrel/pegleg turned 10.20 at 68 MPH in the 1/8 mile.
  6. Well what was your CLOCKED 1/8 mile time ET and MPH?
  7. Where you at in NC? Tell us a little about your Monte.
  8. Lose the peg leg! And you better be shifting them gears good. That gear ratio is great for the street and track but a Posi with slicks is your best way to go.
  9. What do you get for the $4695? The whole engine as it looks on the dyno stand or just the basic long block, and you still have to buy all the engine accessories? Still not a bad price. Oh and how do you get in the 11s? Simple A LOT OF MONEY! Also depends on how much you wanna chop your car up, me I don't care, so I am going with several fiberglass parts such as hood, trunk, and probably front bumper. I also eliminated lots of things. I will weigh in no where near fully dressed FGMC.
  10. On a 1971 SS the peice that goes below the trunlid is the Same identical peice that goes on the bottom above the bumper, it is just flipped upside down. The bottom set..Long Middle Peice and the 2 corner peices are reproduced, I bought mine from Leo, GREAT QUALITY, especially the middle aluminum peice. The 2 VERY RARE upper corner peices for a 71 SS are being custom made by someone but are VERY pricey, Check with Leo on those too, from what he told me it seems he said they are being made out of Stainless Steel and not Pot Metal. Lucking up on a set of orginal corner peices off a junk 71 SS is like finding Gold in your food cabinet. I found a set.....
  11. Sweet. I done away with all of my AC junk also, but even here in the South it still gets COLD! I bought an AC Delete box from American Graffitti and kept my Heat. No AC is better for performance in my opinion. Less weight.

    Mystery SS

Could this be the missing link we have all been waiting for? Regardless its a very nice car. I like the Gold color, but I just don't know about Gold with Green interior...I guess I could handle it.
  13. Sweet. Yeah Welcome to the 11 sec club I guess. Maybe I'll be in that club next year. How much HP does it have naturally aspirated?
  14. Absolutley nothing wrong with clone cars. Don't try and sell it as a real car though. Yes that is fraud, and you can end up in the big house for it. I'm glad my 72 I bought is not a W code because I would have done the same thing I'm doing now...CHOPPING it up. Competely straight rust free car, I'm gutting, cutting, drilling, & cloning. What a shame. I like Bob, will have a 71 Monte, but if I was asked what year...a 72. Then I would say cloned to look like a 71 SS. Leo, tell us about that rare 71 you are doing, that sounds interesting.
  15. Hey no pun was intended toward you honey! But since you opened the door!!!!
  16. On Jim's FGMCC window paper it said 500, he was second to my 575. Good to see an SS 454 get driven 500 miles and not trailered!! Jared
  17. I painted mine silver. The are originally supposed to be like said that cast look or bare metal type look. Those Manifolds need to come off, be painted seperately and put back, don't worry I'll help you. Before....
  18. Yes it does mean a lot. Members Choice made me feel really good, I know that doesn't have all to do with the car... Lets see that Longest Distance Driven was a COSTLY$$$ one, $335 worth of fuel for the round trip. As for as the NMCOA class winner award I got, very surprising especially out of all of those nice Montes I was up against. Congrats to Mark Patrone for the Best of Show award, good to see a First Gen get that one. And congrats to everyone, and to Capri who got Best Interior tearing my chance of 3 in a row.
  19. 14.5 miles to the gallon Jim. THAT IS GREAT!!! Now at next years meet if you can come there is no reason not to drive your Monte again.
  20. Great Pics Capri!!! I think the "Butt" incident will go down in history as one of the highlights of 2008. The Surpranos was a hoot to meet, all of them had great senses of humor, and everyone didn't mine me picking on them, as they done it back.
  21. Very sad story, makes your eyes get heavy everytime I hear it. Hope all is well with his family.
  22. Cowl Screens...who wants BIG HUGE UGLY HOLES in their Firewall? Cover them up with Cowl Screens......PLEASE! 50k car, with no $29.99 cowl screens, things like this make me hot. Cars without those things, especially the high dollar cars, make the car look unfinished, and worth a lot less, its like paying 10k to have a car painted, and put the original crusty pitted emblems back on. Things like this really get under my skin. Yes, all cars to my knowledge come with the A-arm flaps. As for as the Cowl Screens, why would the cars come with holes in the firewall? Good place for leaves, and trash to build up and cause rust. I can't really answer if they did or didn't, who has saw these Montes when they was new? Did they have them?
  23. That sounds interesting. I'm sure he can find 10 people, and I think there is a market. I see lots of Fiberglass hoods being sold. How much lighter is a Carbon Fiber than a fiberglass, I mean a pin on drag fiberglass hood weighs like 13 pounds, so dang what does a carbonfiber hood weigh? I would like to have one...just don't know about funds at this time...
  24. Let me know on that trim if you're going to sale it. I may be intersted in it. Maybe you could bring it to the meet? I want a set to go on the white car...if I would ever get around to putting it on there.
  25. That molding is kinda rare. I like the looks of it. Your Black car...More Chrome the better, and Red goes with Black, Red SS 454 emblems look better than the white, my opinion.
