  1. Dennis your car is gorgeous and it has had a great 8 years. hopefully it will grace some of the events and you can reconnect.
  2. I wouldn't call it a "show" but Friday nights when the weather is good lots of people bring their hot rods out and park for a few hours. I actually don't care for it, the cars are pretty close and commuters are still trying to get their cars out but there's always people I know so I'm going. Cap Tree/OBI on Sunday mornings is better. Again, not a show. ill see if i catch OBI sunday. i fly in friday

  4. I believe some of the hardware is grade 8 but also case hardened.
  5. check the tip of the valve stem, and rocker for wear.
  6. go to the proportion valve and see if it bleeds there. some have like a button or nipple you can press to help bleed. if it has pressure at the proportioning valve then go to the flexible line by the diff and see if it bleeds. try to half pump the brakes dont bottom the pedal out if you have an old master
  7. I personally would order the bearing race set. i personally dont like to mix and match. i know at work we swap bearings and dont replace race with no problems but for my personal stuff i wouldnt
  8. to add the Camaro and nova rears are leaf spring. it would require cutting and welding and a lot in modifying I would say take your time because I see the correct monte rears pop up very often.
  9. any bearing made in the USA, Europe, Japan..... China, India are a no go for me. I like timken but I'll use anything well made
  10. I believe I saw a post describing the different finishes for master and booster. the rebuild kit ate not hard to come by. I believe you can look in the vendor section of the groups page and find someone who sells them. if you have an original master dont send it in for an exchange period correct is sort after by some of the members.

    Fuel for 454

    the Stabilizer does help. I would prefer Rec90 fuel which many auto enthusiast and boat users use. If you have a stock big block the fuel should have enough octane. I know I let a car sit for a years and I had to clean the fuel system and on my 4 wheelers they run bad until I refuel.

    the highest octane possible and dont let ethanol added fuel sit long. it damages your fuel system.
  14. What you describe definetly sounds like a blower resistor. they can be checked for proper resistance. I dont remember cutting rivets but it's possible.

  17. Amazing what can make a difference. I am glad you decided on the Monte. it came down to options and Insurance.
  18. Very cool. What were your choices in 71 of cars. how did the Monte prevail. Looking back and I think I would have selected the Monte also. I think the Monte stands alone leaving the chevelle in 2nd. then i dont know what would be 3rd, impala maybe the camaros just didnt do it for me that year. Being an original owner is a badge on its own.
  19. do you have stock exhaust or headers. if you start the car when it's cool and touch by the manifold or headers, they should warm up pretty even. I have seen where and exhaust gets plugged and on piper is cooler or super hot.
  20. if you bend a valve it would make a sucking noise at the carb, the Pcv will chatter. you vacuum gauge will be erratic. you should notice a miss if that's a case. vacuum leak would make a sucking sound and could raise the idle speed, but you said you checked all the hoses. check the booster they can leak internally.
