When I was a kid, my Grandmother was a guide leader...... I still remember the pallet of cookies arriving and sitting on the living room every year. Mind you, they were a buck a box back then, and that was still a lot for a kid to come up with. And she didn't take credit. lol

Hello Leo, and welcome. I had an issue something similar on a '76 Chev C-10 years ago. when the key was in the off position, the accessories still had power..... I found that the actual ignition switch on the column was loose and out of adjustment. Sometimes they get that way as they get older. By the way, is your Monte a column or console shift ?

Hey Tom, Are you using a "W" block or Mark 4 block ? Rumour is that the Mark 4 uses a different pump, whereas the "W" uses the same one as a small block except with a bigger holding tank and discharge fittings. Hope that helps, and welcome to the machine.

My local weekly gathering was also cancelled last summer for similar antics. The organizers had lots of signs asking that people not stunt...... But there's always someone. The mall (property owners) banned the event, and rightly so. There are a lot of pedestrians at the event, and all it takes is one slip to cause harm.

Worst case scenario is that you could go down to the local pick-n-pull and get a set off of an old car. Just about any G.M. crank will fit. G.M. liked consistency back then.

I've seen those clips on diesel generators...... If you don't know about the "lever", they're impossible to pull off. The HEI ignition and tach wires use a similar connector, but it's the plastic cover and clips to the cap.
