  1. Welcome Wilbur to the best Club and place for First Generation Monte Carlo info. Thank you for your service too !!!
  2. If you gut is telling you something different than head, walk away. Unless you can buy it for the “right” price and repair or replace everything that needs correcting you may be opening Pandora’s Box and draining your bank account. Paint and body work are quite expensive and sourcing parts and shipping is costly and not as easy as pre Covid.
  3. Welcome aboard Greg ! The best Club and info for First Generation Monte Carlo’s here.
  4. From reading other online forums, the Chevy Astro or GMC Sierra mini van brake booster fits with the tall valve covers. It’s supposedly a bolt in replacement.
  5. Happy Easter to all of our Monte family. Please enjoy the day and your family. Who knows, you may even sneak in a quick ride today?
  6. Yes, trailer maintainance is critical item to be done for a safe trip with your Monte aboard. I replace my tires every 4 -5 years (even if they look like new) and carry 2 spares, 1 per axel. I do my brake and bearing maintainance or replacement, check all electrical connections, lights, lubricate all locks and hinges, charge and check or replace batteries as needed break away device and cable, and give it a good cleaning and repaint as needed. It’s a full steel open deck trailer. I always add grease to the bearings with a grease gun on each trip. I have never had bearing issues or failure. I have also added a wireless tire temperature and air pressure monitor system to each wheel. A cheap way to detect rising tire temperature and high or low tire air pressures. A small monitor and screen can observed and parameters set up from your tow vehicle. It has a built in solar panel or rechargeable batteries to power it up. It’s normally under $89 dollars on Amazon. I think I paid about $30-35 dollars on Prime Day.
  7. Rob, Let me get Wayne to the Syracuse Nationals this year and prep him for the Eastern Meet at Carlisle next year. Wayne lives local to the Syracuse Nationals. We’re looking forward to seeing his Monte completed and joining us.
  8. Looking good Wayne !! Keep it going.
  9. Most of the Marina’s in the NY Area have there moorings and dock space ready from April 15 - October 15 give or take a 1-2 weeks longer or so depending on the weather. The birds come North first, then the boats.
  10. Montemedic

    Thanks Rob

Mark, They are just jealous because they don’t have one !!
  11. Wishing you a speedy recovery Rob. Feel better. Carlisle will be here soon !!!
  12. The BFG’s have a manufacturing issue with the white letters turning brown and their prices have taken a major increase. The Cooper Cobras are a comparable tire without white letter browning issues for a much better price. I currently run a 255-60-15 on 7 inch factory rally rims in the front and 275-60-15 on an 8 inch rally with 5 inch backspacing on my Monte SS. Factory height springs with no clearance issues. My 2 cents.
  13. As we know Willie, that’s definitely not a New York price !!!
  14. You build another garage for it?
  15. Larry, Better you found out now, then on the way to one of the Meets. Glad you got the right guy to take care of it for you.
  16. Welcome to the First Generation Monte Carlo Club and congratulations on the purchase of your Monte. Also, thank you for your ongoing military service.
  17. As of today, only 106 days until we arrive for the SYRACUSE NATIONALS !!!
  18. AMD does make very nice partial and full quarter panels. Since our Monte’s tend rust around the wheel well lip and behind them, you can cut out what you need for new replacement metal or replace with a partial or full panel.
  19. Bruce, that definitely is the snowball effect. Great photo documentation.
  20. Steve, glad you got a chance to go. Thanks for sharing.
  21. You said your car was restored prior to purchasing it. How old are your body bushings, or have they ever been replaced?
  22. Good gas shocks such as Bilstein, front and rear sway bars make a big difference. Do you have a rear sway bar on your Monte? It’s an easy bolt on part.
  23. Paul, The 1970 fuel tank was non vented, just the gas cap is vented. The 71-72 tanks had additional bungs at the front corners of the tank and were vented externally. Depending on what year your Monte is, or what fuel tank is currently in your Monte now will tell you.
  24. To our members, We have created a new “Mini Meet” area in the Forums. Please take a look at it. There are threads for each upcoming Mini Meet and a Club calendar on the right side of the page. There are 3 Mini Meets, the Eastern and Western Meets for a total of 5 Club sponsored events in 2023. This is a new Club milestone with 5 events this year, for our dues paying members. A great way to see some Monte Carlo’s, meet and spend some time with with other like Monte people and join us for some of our famous “bench racing” sessions. You can participate with or without your Monte. We hope you will come join us at one or more of these Club events in 2023. Thank you, CK
