  1. thanks, I see a diagram for the small block that uses a clamp but not sure on the big block. I have to look at the car tonight also.
  2. Larry, you are correct, I found a replacement harness and solenoid on line. Now I need to see if anyone has a picture of how the solenoid mounts to a big block carb. My parts book only list the clamp for a small block and I'm not sure if they are the same. Any help would be great. Thanks
  3. I was going to say cap but I see you replaced it. I have the same setup so I'm interested to know if Pertronix has any issues with there unit. Keep us posted to what they tell you....good luck
  4. I will take a look. But then is there another wire that plugs to the connector to the solenoid? Thanks
  5. The Parts Place may have the correct paint
  6. Bruce, hear in Chicago we used AJR radio to rebuild the transducers. You might want to check with a rebuilder if any remain.
  7. Congratulations, it's always a good feeling to figure out the issues with these old cars.
  8. Good catch, looks like mine last week while I was having it repaired from the deer hit.
  9. I think I found my answer, it looks like the connector I have is for the idle stop solenoid. My question now is did the big block cars come with the solenoid or did they just wire all cars with a standard harness. Or did someone take the solenoid off.
  10. Not sure if the 72 is the same as 70 but the wiring diagram on the 70 showed a yellow wire from the positive terminal from the coil to the "R" on the starter solenoid. I don't have a 72 wiring diagram
  11. All, at the wire wall I have a black wire with a purple stripe with a female connector not plugged into anything. Does anyone have any idea what that would plug into? I looked on the wiring diagram and it looks like tcs solenoid but there is a wire from the relay to the solenoid. This connector looks like it goes to the fuse block. I'm confused. Any help would be great, thanks Paul

    Retired?

I would do the same but I don't want to pay for health care. I'm happy for you and hope it all works out for you.
  13. I can't view your pictures, but I'm not smart enough to give you any advise. Good luck with your project....
  14. Don't you need to be careful moving the body? When you move the body do you also loosen the fenders? ....
  15. I thought just a little downward pressure and they twist out....
  16. Can you maybe post some pictures so we can see what you're dealing with?
  17. I hope you figure it out, maybe some of the others here can give you a hint..
  18. I was having dieseling problems and I was having my AC repaired so I asked my technician to look at it and I was a combo of Idle mixture and Idle speed. He said my timing was spot on but the car was idling a bit to high. The ac repair had nothing to do with the idle. Good luck
  19. I'm a big believer in originality, I also light Gobie beige with the white top. With in door jams and truck in original condition I would think that the re-paint would less expensive. I would vote to leave it the original color. Good luck with the car....
  20. Do auto parts stores carry SEM paint or can you recommend where I can buy a can??
  21. I'm going to polish and restore the lower moldings that came with my car. My question is what have you that have restored these molding used to re-paint these?? Is it a flat black or semi-gloss or full gloss??
  22. You would think so, maybe contact them and ask if they hid the tcs wires...not sure what to think.
  23. Willie, did you tape up the harness?? I looked at the wiring diagram and it shows that the 20 P and 20 DBL wires runs to the relay. maybe some just taped the unused wire to the harness???
