  1. The parts place sells sets of them which I used on my car. I may have a couple good ones left over.
  2. I'm not having that problem ether. Must be a browser issue
  3. Carl, my parts catalog shows that the bumper brackets and braces for the Monte and Chevelle are the same for 1970. So the inner brackets are the same for 70 and 71, part numbers are 3987057 and 3987058. The outer braces are listed for the 70 are 3975431 and 3975432. I hope that helps. Paul
  4. I was getting ready to order a first generation replacement washer pump from the parts place and I thought why not try to rebuild the original. The old pump was all seized up and I thought it was cooked. I took apart everything but the coil and soaked the small parts in simple green overnight. I cleaned the base with a brush and simple green and soaked the pivoting lever pivot with simple green. The lever started to move freely, I then cleaned all the small parts and started putting the pump back together. I applied all purpose grease to the moving parts. The plunger was still in good shape. I re-installed it the I was happy that it worked. I'm sure some members have re-built these pumps but I wanted to pass this along for those who might think the only way to fix them it to buy new.
  5. As Aaron said three nuts holding that molding on. They are a bear to get to, I screwed up a little spot on my passenger door when I didn't get then fender re-aligned. Good luck...
  6. Willie, I ordered AC Delco cables from Rock Auto. Perfect fit. Good luck
  7. John, the gm parts book shows the switch in pieces. The out escutcheon, knobs and base were sold separately. I think you would be looking for the base the catalog shows : 70-72 Monte Carlo 4306608 BASE. This looks like it's listed for a bucket seat.
  8. My car wasn't in rusty shape but I've been trying to put it back to stock. The prior owners did so many things to it that don't make sense. I have also been asking a lot of questions. This forum has so many knowledgeable people which is a great help. Good luck
  9. That may make sense, like I said on my car the wire is dark green, It might be possible that the company that reproduced the harness used a green with w/stripe. Do you have the TCS solenoid and relay with the car?? Did the 72 used the same system?
  10. Willie, my old parts book shows a anti dieseling relay listed for a 1971. The book doesn't list one for the 72 and I'm not sure where it mounted. Bruce has a 71 so I thought maybe. I also looked at a few after market catalogs to see if they show that wire on a replacement harness but nothing. Maybe someone else knows something about the anti dieseling relay location
  11. Awesome story, there aren't a lot of those guys around anymore.
  12. Bruce, my car has a spot for the second relay but I have nothing there. My TCS Relay has a dark green wire to the sensor and it looks like a dark blue and black with purple stripe to the solenoid on the intake manifold. Not sure what the other relay would be for.
  13. I have been looking at 72 wiring diagrams and see nothing. The only other green wires in my engine compartment are one to the ac compressor and the headlights. Good luck
  14. Willie, I looke at my engine this morning and I don't see a green wire with white. The first picture is of the right side and the second is the left. I haven't looked at a a 72 wiring diagram. MIne is a 70
  15. Mine is bolted to the inside of the left fender. I will try to upload a picture later
  16. Willie, my car is a 70 with a 454. The prior owner replaced the harness. My car also had a extra orange wire that ran to the trans switch with the purple and black wire. Does it have a single female connector. The assembly manual shows the orange wire is for a manual trans, they recommend cuting it off and taping it to the harness. Thats what I did. My car also has a bright green wire on the drivers side and a darker green wire on the passenger side. I beleive the right side is for the TCS relay. Maybe some one else can verify. I hope this helps and good luck....

  21. 6261914 is what my parts book shows for the shroud for a big block the part number you have is the upper extension for all 70-72 monte carlos. you should check the number on the shroud. The small block shrouds are 6261912, 6261913
  22. My car had both wires on the harness. The automatic uses the 2 wire prong. The 1 wire connector was used with a manual transmission. In the assembly manual they show it cut off and taped off.
