  1. I love them! Could one (1971) be drawn W/O the blower and rally wheels for us original types? Black is good. Bruce
  2. Can't answer your questions for 100% sure but I believe yes to both, but the first thing to do with a powerglide attached to a inline six (or any engine) is get rid of it and replace it with a 200R4 overdrive. Going from a 2 speed to a five speed will make the old six feel much better. Then work on the rear end gear ratio. BTW, I work for Stovebolt Engine Co. Tom Langdon, the owner, advises people all day long to upgrade to an overdrive before doing just about anything else. Bruce
  3. Found this supplier for rubber parts. Haven't used them yet but the product line up has some interesting items. Metro Molded Parts
  4. Here is a site with lot's of data on transmission measurements. TCI
  5. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the balancer is only there to help smooth out any drive line NVH (noise vibration harshness) making the Monte Carlo a step or two better than lesser cars of the day. Our cars also have rubber insulation pads for the rear transmission cross member, that lesser cars do not have. On your race car, it will never be missed. Bruce
  6. Mo, No, not chrome just rubber. Bruce
  7. Has anyone ever seen a rubber plug style oil fill cap with just the Chevy bow tie on it? I had one at one time but don't remember where I got it from. Bruce
  8. Both my 71 OEM and then both replacements only have one each. Cost savings I bet. Bruce
  9. What amazed me was the pile of "perhaps" aluminum sludge on the bottom of my pan the first time I pulled it off at around 30,000 miles. My original filter was torn so it wasn't doing much filtering! Now it's got 140,000 and the trans still shifts fine but does have a few leaks. I did have to replace the torque converter because a weld was leaking after 115,000 miles. Bruce
  10. My 71 350 has a drain plug! I guess I have a rare car! Bruce
  11. Don't you have to remove the rear cover to drain the fluid anyway? I guess you could suck it out the fill hole but what fun would that be. As a word of caution, be sure you can remove the FILL plug before you drain everything out by removing the rear cover. If it's too rusted to budge, you will never be able to re-fill it! Good luck, Bruce
  12. If / when my 350 4BBL THM350 trans needs work, I will go to an overdrive like mentioned above. All or most cars built since the mid 80's have had Over Drive in them. Bruce
  13. I think there are two of this same question on the boards today. Here is my reply the the other one if it helps. I know you have a 70 small block but my 71 has (had) the third hose going to the evaporative emissions canister on the driver side ft inner fender area. I don't eve know if they had that in 1970 so many people take them off anyway. Here is a picture, the vacuum hose is the one with the white stripe. 1971 Emissions Canister hose
  14. That looks great and a nice price to. Bruce
  15. Pull the choke out (manual choke) or add some other sort of fuel. Not the safest thing to do. I'm sure there are many web sites out there that tell you how to set it up. My Nephew built some huge tail pipes for a local legend in the Detroit area "Sh Boom!". Here is a web site with video of it and a U-Tube with my nephews buddy Murray's flame thrower. Sh Boom! Murray Pfaff Bruce
  16. Just a few comments about TCS and how it differs. My 71 non A/C 350 4BBL no gauges had one twin prong spade connector on the LEFT or drivers side head. I bought a 71 350 4BBL non A/C car with gauges that had a sending unit in both heads because of the gauges (I assume) Both sending units have single terminals the left being a threaded round stud. The right unit I didn't swap out so I can't say what it was. If I would have swapped my rt and left heads when I had them off then the sender would be on the wrong side! With cars this old, you never know for sure if things are the way they were from the factiory so be cautious. How different the 1970 is from a 71 or a 72 I don't know. Just a few things to think about but I would bet all three are slightly different from one another. They could even be different from start of production to end of production in the same year! I thought the 72 TCS had a right side solenoid to shut off vacuum to the dist advance where as my 71 had it on the left side of the engine built into the throttle stop solonoid. Good luck. Bruce
  17. Something else to look for is, if a previous owner did over tighten the pan bolts (this applies to all covers) you may have to push the bolt holes back out using a ball peen hammer. I've seen some really messed up rocker covers over the years from being way overtightened. Good luck, Bruce
  18. Everything is working well for me. I started using Google Chrome about 3 or 4 months ago and I like it's bare bones and speed. One or two of the sites I visit won't work but that's OK. One that wouldn't work now is working but says Chrome is not a supported browser. Good luck.
  19. After many years of exposure to loud noise, it won't bother you a bit because by then you'll be hearing impaired!
  20. Two, that is correct sir! One left of the trans tunnel and one on the rt of the trans tunnel low on the hump part. Like I said before, lot's of belts! Bruce
  21. Yes, I have a belt assembly for a center passenger as well. Lot's of belts! Bruce
  22. My 71 bench seat with Deluxe belts has a "self locking" lap belt (with a small stainless buckle head) and a totally separate shoulder belt with a large stainless buckle head. The shoulder belt must be pulled tight (after it's buckled up) like older style lap belts. Compared to what we have today, these belt's were very uncomfortable. I hate to admit it, but I do not use my shoulder belt. I really should get the new style combination belts like some of the members have. I wonder if it rides and rubs on your neck? Bruce
  23. My wife's Dell laptop got a replacement battery (it could blow up) in a recall. About 9 mths later the battery light started flashing a code like 4 orange 1 green when ever it's charging (plugged in) or on but unplugged. Battery doesn't hold a charge as long now about 10 - 15 min so she keeps it plugged in all the time. Just wait till we are sitting on a battery the size of a garbage can, in our electric car, and it go's bad! No thanks! Bruce
  24. My Comcast cable comes with free McAfee. I assume Comcast saves money on calls from customers with problems that are virus related not cable related. I get updates from McAfee about 3 or 4 times a week and the once weekly total scan slows down the computer. I know I could stop the scan but I don't. Perhaps other cable companies give away free anti virus software too? Bruce
