Anyone ever install a cup holder in their car? I'm looking for one that can be installed over the hump in the floor just in front of the bench seat.

I don't need it to have a storage compartment, just to hold a few bottles or coffee cups.

They make aftermarket one but get it with the little fingers so it sticks to the carpet.

How many bottles or cups do you need 😅 some company makes an insert to go in ash tray for a cup holder but not sure who, another member had one a while back. I've got just a little cheapie that sits in front of thd seat on the hump. It works ok until I fine what I'd really like. Holds 2 cups and has a little square compartment to keep stuff in, it works.

I got this from OPGI. it fits in your ash tray when you take out the insert. the only draw back is it only fits small items like bottled water. (which is all I allow in the car anyway).IMG_4298.thumb.jpg.fcc384436a757822c500ccfc0c919c24.jpg

That would make sense, because 2 64oz. Big Gulps probably weigh in at over 8lbs. Not sure the ash tray could handle that.

I had to modify my ashtray to make it strong enough to hold my modified cup holder. I took the holder pictured above, which is called a "plug n chug", ordered larger inserts from a casino supply site large enough to hold a Yeti. Then I used the existing part that fits into the ashtray and made the whole cupholder larger.

As for the ashtray I installed a small bolt and locknut on each side to serve as a way to keep the ashtray from falling all the way down. I have pics somewhere of those mods and can post them later if anyone is interested.

I know, a lot of work for a cupholder but when you spend 2 days on the road its nice to have a drink handy.

Only problem with them is law enforcement can see the beer sitting there. Ooops I mean soda or water, I'd never have an open container while driving at least not since I was young and foolish 😅 now I'm old and foolish.  There I beat you guys to saying it 🤣

If you can find those pics that would be nice. I'd like to hold a bigger bottle of water.

Don't you remember the cling "soda" decals? I don't smoke or drink in either of my classics, unless they break then all bets are off 🤣

I have one of those mounted on the sides of my console. I just cut off the hanging hook part and mounted then in the side and being black the hardly show unless you are really looking for the so I guess that is another modification 😂

Steve I wasn’t worried at all about your shoulders. lol. I know you can take it. But I have an image to upload and I’m already walking on a tightrope. So I’ll leave it be. 😆

Does anyone remember the coffee cup "clips" that Mac's stores used to sell ?

It was a disc shaped thing that the cup was made to hook into and had two sided tape to stick to the dash.

I'm pretty sure Timmy's used to sell them too.....

Now, that just might work! Thanks for the picture!🙂🙂   You do know around here they call me " 2 beers " .  At our road course track,                ( Watkins International) , I usually have 2 beers, one in each hand! Now I don't have to dump one out!

Yal, I typically have 2 beers also. Simply because I can’t find where I sat one down. :)

I've been to those type of parties...... One host told me it was the worst case of alcohol abuse he'd ever seen. Such a waste of beer. lol
