Silver Dollar Car Classic

Carson City, NV

August 3-5, 2012

http://www.nvshows.com/carson-city-events/sdcc/

This event includes roughly 400 cars with a show, cruising, a poker run and more. Based on the initial response from members, the 2012 meet should have another great turnout. We attended this event for the innaugural Western Meet in 2004 and we had a great time. We have added even more great activities this time around. Starting the day after the Meet will be Hot August Nights if you choose to stick around for that legendary event.

Weekend schedule:

Thursday:

People arrive Thursday afternoon/evening. No specific activities on this day. It's a good time to get settled, meet with members and maybe wash your car.

Friday:

- We will cruise to historic Virginia City, have lunch and check out the sights there. We will leave Carson City around 10am and be back before dinner.

- In the evening there is the live band and street dance at the Carson Nugget Casino in Carson City.

Saturday:

- Car show in Mills Park in Carson City. This park has lots of trees and is a nice setting for the show.

- Cruise through Lake Tahoe State Park to Incline Village for dinner and take in the scenery along the way.

Sunday:

- Poker run in the morning

- Car show awards in Mills Park

- SDCC awards ceremony in Mills Park

- BBQ and FGMCC awards banquet at Cameron's house in Reno (Thank you Cameron).

I'm already planning my road trip to Carson City. Yes, I know it's early but I can't wait, LOL. I have a couple long days ahead of me (roughly 18 hours total) but there's nothing better than cruising through the Country in the Monte. I will be going down hwy 97 through Yakima, WA and Bend, OR. I hope to meet up with some of the other Northwest members along the way.

Sounds good Aaron,

I have been giving some thought on direction I'll take to Carson City and thru Bend is as good as any. Lots of pretty country between Portland & Bend. Not sure who else may be going from here but might caravan again if schedule allows. Plenty of time to firm it up.

I'm guessing we hook up with Jay in Bend?

To complete trip are you planning on heading South East to Calif. and into Nevada?

This time I'm getting the A/C working for a more comfortable drive!

Keeping my fingers crossed that Work allows for some leisure time this year and the weather cooperates so I can spend time completing a few projects I have planned for the ole girl. Got a Delco AM/FM Stereo radio that I had a MP3 jack installed so I can listen to my own tunes during those weak signal areas. Have a Power Trunk Release that needs installation & wired also + a few minor tasks to doll her up. Bought a set of T/A Radials that need mounted also.

I have my Vacation time locked in so I'm good there. Now just need to put it all together.

Looking forward to August.......

Doug

I'm already planning my route also Aaron and my car doesn't even run yet for nearly a year now. whistle But if I can get it going by then at least I'll know where to go. grin I’m planning on I-5 most of the way and then 89 to 44 to 395 through Reno.

After the meet I’ll be heading home a different route, via Las Vegas!! cool I’d really like to go down to see some old friends from when I lived there and show them my car. They got to see it all torn apart and partially done before me and my car moved back to Washington. Plus I’d like to show the car to all my coworkers that are there in our main office that I’ve only met once in the 3 years I’ve worked there. Some newer people there that I deal with daily on the phone I’ve never met yet or even know what they look like.

As of right now I already have 163 hours of vacation time and by the meet I will have another 70 hours for a total of 223 hour of vacation time. So that shouldn’t be a problem.

I can do it all with the Western meet and then 4 or 5 days in Vegas all in 2 weeks using only 80 hours of my vacation time. I finally got a raise at work so maybe I can get started on my car soon. I will start seeing my raise on my next check. cool I hope I have enough time between now and the meet to fund her repairs.

There should be a few of us that can meet in the Bend area. I'm pretty sure there will be at least myself, Jay, Matt, Larry and likely some others (Royce? Chris? Kevin? Tim? Jake?, Dave? others?).

I will be taking 97 all the way through WA into Bend. From Bend I was going to take 139 to 395 into Carson City. This will be nice since this is a route I've never driven.

If you go that route, we could possibly meet you in Susanville, CA depending on the timing of when you are in that area.
