  2. So is that just do short welds and tacking or is that short welds and tacking over the whole thing at different periods to make make sure it doesn’t warp. After my original quarter panel, it had in total five different sections welded onto it and all of them were braised on. And the only experience I have with that holy smokes, I ruined a good dozen blades trying to cut through it.

  4. I had a great conversation with a scammer via email. Was an 86 Toyota Corolla AE86. Great driver quality car. Ad said the car was in Texas. Well I happened to have a friend I know online from that area. Asked if he'd be cool with looking at a car. He said sure. I let the seller know I was interested and I would like to have someone I know look at it. He then said the car isn't actually in Texas but Pennsylvania. At that point I had a feeling it was too good to be true. So I told him I know a guy there too. Send me the address. At this point he said he didn't want to make the transaction in person. And on top of that, he wanted the money to be sent via ebay. I say that makes sense but my buddy will have to see it first. Guy finally gives up and says he doesn't want to sell the car now.
  5. By doing the small tacking or very short welds you are less likely to get warpage. I remember 45 years ago of brazing a quarter panel on and you had to really careful doing that because a torch will warp the metal in a heart beat. Then we would have to go back and grind off all of the exposed brass so it would not pop and destroy the body work. Bondo did not like to stick to brass very well. And then if you got it to warm from grinding it would warp also. Very tedious work and glad I did not have to make my living doing that kind of work I would have starved I was not real good and slow at it.

  7. There are scammers out there................. Was talking to a friend of mine who had an acquaintance who bought a car off a website sight unseen............ Great website, tons of pictures, answered the phone every time he called, until he got the check 😲 Ya'll know the horror stories but it's just a reminder. I always try to suggest to people looking for classic cars, get your budget, establish your priorities and what's negotiable, and figure in hotel airline and transportation costs.

  15. We owe our freedom to that generation from WW2
  16. Paint is so crazy expensive now. May I ask what you paid 37 years ago? Being an employee of DuPont were you able to get a break on materials? Was it Imron? It still looks fresh.
  17. Picture #4 would make and interesting mural.
  18. Finding a matching set of tires with the size selection for 15" wheels is getting harder to do these days.
  19. Actually, had that happen a couple weeks ago. Was at the gas station pumping gas when one of Calgary's Finest came over and we had a nice 10 minute chat. Was a little nerve racking at first, it's not everyday I get approached by a police officer, but they are people too.
  20. Greetings and a good day to who read. I finally made it and put my quarter panel on my car. I have it tacked in place but I am unsure of the next steps. I’ve been told recently recently you should always do a full weld, which includes tacking it in small sections very quickly over and over again until full weld is completed. That is correct. I would love for someone to let me know because I have found very many differing answers. I will also try to upload some pictures! https://imgur.com/a/GisRbfB Thank you very much!
