  1. This is an example of a altered cowl tag I believe. Or one that was at least taken off body at one point. The rivets don't appear correct? This isn't my car but a picture I found online awhile back. Let me know what you all think
  2. I use Amsoil 10w30 or Quaker State Defy. That Defy is a lot of bang for the buck as it has a zinc additive formulated for older engines!
  3. I heard this as well however heard early built 72 s like mine can have it. My car was built November of 71 and has decal. It does not have the seat belt warning in dash either. So I think early build 72s have some differences.
  4. Aerospace 303. Is an amazing product for this. I use it on my black vinyl interior and dash as well as the top. most products contain silicon which actually promote cracking eventually. Not this stuff it truly is amazing non greasy as well. I use it on my vinyl hot tub as well.
  5. I never knew they were red. Mine don't show any signs of rubbed off paint that I can see.
  6. Mine look like this. Maybe I got wrong ones on here?
  7. My 72 custom with factory cruise just has the hard plastic cruise lever. No grain from what I understand
  8. Nice! Looks like it has the sport steering wheel as well! Great purchase
  9. Very enjoyable post to read Bruce. Great Monte and great story. Glad you shared all these photos!
  10. That's awesome. Do they still make these in reproduction? Or do you just find them online?
  11. Hi everyone. When giving my monte a tuneup i was suprised to see these AC plugs. My custom is a 64k mile car so im thinking they could be. I haven't seen these around to much. Is it possible they could be original or replaced way back before it became acdelco? Just curious thanks!
  12. I replaced my fuel line from pump to carb with the opgi part you have pictured. I really had to work on it for my 350 4brl on my 72. I ended up returning it and custom made one at a friends auto shop out of real steel. Looks more OEM and less shiny.I ended up using a coat hanger I cut and used the skinny wire as a template then used a bender on the actual part.
  13. I think mine still retains all the brackets and clamps. Under one of the clamps even one of the rubber goromets is stamped "chevrolet" and a part number is listed. It looks like it supports the battery tray. It looks very original.I'm not sure if this is what is being discussed here as the part is unique. I'll send some pics
  14. Those are great photos..makes me want to go walleye fishing. I hear it's great in Canada
  15. I seen in the store that quaker state state also has a oil with zinc still present called DEFY...formulated for older cars. I haven't used this yet. Only Amsoil. 10 w 30. I'm not sure if I should be using a zinc additive in the 72 model year?
  16. Hi Joseph! I met you at the waukesha car show. Definitely want to stop over and take a look at the car when time prevails. It was great meeting you. Glad to see you on here.sorry I don't have any bolts however. Good luck and take care!
  17. I seen your pics on the first link. Looks amazing. Great work! What color is that? Pewter silver?
  18. I was reading through the production numbers ect. On the forum and it has great info! I seen that for 70 and 71 there was less than 200 cars with cruise control each year but no stats for 72. Just curious if anyone has a ballpark figure?
  19. Mine was a real head scratcher at first. V1109CMD. Followed by my vin#. So I knew it belonged to the car. When I researched mine however on most sites it only said mine was in a 74 year taxi or police car!!!! Then I found out on a chevelle site that it was in a 72 monte with NB2 because it was a California car. November of 71 build date. My 2 barrel carb was switched to 4 according to meet California requirements as the only engine available in that state to conform with emissions was a 350 with 4 brl carb. I'm still confused. carb is Date coded properly and I was told dealer probably switched it out.
  20. When I needed one I also went to the auto parts store. The replacement was a sylvania bulb. My old one was a General Electric. Looked very old. Which ones were factory? AC?
  21. Aerospace 303 is a great product for this situation. Cleans great with no sticky residue and protects
  22. Yes Bruce is correct. That is a ground wire. You are welome! Always great to help out not only another monte fan but a Dale Earnhardt Jr fan as well!
