  1. Glad everyone is ok. Hope all can be fixed as good as new.
  2. Hi Mick. Yes, first remove both parts of the rear seat, then remove the panel with the ashtray assy, the rear window handle and then the trim panel. Good luck!
  3. All good. Glad it was an easy repair. No stupid questions. You will find everyone here is helpful. That's how most of us learned... By our mistakes. Lol
  4. Silly question time... Did you fill the transmission with the car running and in park? GM transmissions need to be in park for the pump to pump. Also like mentioned, was the new pan the same depth? It moved before you did the work and if the fluid I'd full, it should continue unless the fluid that came out was burnt, blackish and smelled funky and there was a lot of metal and friction material in the bottom of the pan. In which case the new trans fluid, which has a detergent in it cleaned all the clutches of friction material. I do not believe that is the case. I hope that is just low on fluid. How many qts did you put back in? A th350 takes usually 10qts of fluid for a brand new trans and stock converter. Usually 4-5 qts for what you did. Also, did you install the gasket between the filter and the valve body? Could be sucking air. Good luck, hoped this helped and am awaiting what you find.
  5. I would think the 4speed cars did not have the cushion cross member like you suggest but Orbit says his has the cushions. When I get a chance I'm going to go to my 71 402 4speed car and see which style it has. I would say no cushion. Lol anyone else with a factory 4speed know??
  6. X2 Paul. I also ground the body to engine, engine to frame and frame to body. I call it "the triangle" never had an electrical problem after doing this.
  7. Nice Monte Joseph! Great job!
  8. John, does your car have the "cushion" style cross member or one without cushions. I believe yours is without. That being said both of us are correct depending which style cross member is being used. Now I'm curious if 4speed cars used the cushion less cross member. I know my 70 SS had originally a cushion style that I changed to the "solid" style like yours. Thanks for the info.
  9. Hi orbit. I had my brother run out, the cars are at this house. When using the cross member with the " cushions or pads" the bolt holes are the very first hole and 4th hole from the front of the frame. Hope this helps.
  10. All good. I have a few nice 70 and 71 grills.
  11. I was going to suggest through the rear bumper like some of the Buick GS had. I believe it was option code N25. I have always wanted to do that. Lol
  12. I know this is very vague but the same as a th350. As you know there are quite a few holes for the cross member on both sides of the frame rails.with the trans in place and the cross member in place, just line up all the holes. I can give you an exact number of holes back when I get to my "parts car" but that will not be till tomorrow or Thursday. Someone may have told you by then. I will look though. Good luck.

    71 SS

Looks great! The beginnings of a lot of work. I look forward to seeing your progress.
  14. I would like to know also. I could use at least 3.
  15. All the 70 Montes I have had with the under headlight chrome and Halo tops were early production. The 70's that had the "long" top and no chrome were later production. Idk what's what just what I have had and have seen throughout the years.Just my .02. I would like to know the answer also.
  16. My condolences to you and your family, many thoughts and prayers to you all in this time....
  17. Great find!!! Right place, right time! Lol Mr Peters, I have a few 70 grills “in stock”. What condition are you looking for?
  18. Since the Trans is numbers matching, it obviously is not a 4x4 case. I would like to hear what you find.
  19. Do you know if you have the original transmission? Sounds like you possibly have a 4x4 case that was built for a car. Are the holes threaded? If so, you do. The 4x4 cases had thick, like the case, aluminum inspection covers bolted to them. Hope this helps.
  20. Hi Mike. I believe your 383 will be of the older 2piece rear main seal as compared to the zz4’s one piece seal. Which has a smaller bolt pattern for the flywheel. You probably know that and is why you say you need a new flywheel. I would go aftermarket. Any name brand, preferably not made in “China” would be good. People have their favorites. Hays, McLeod, zoom, centerforce etc. good luck!
  21. Hi. From what I can tell you have a service replacement block- ie the CE. The 2 is usually the year- 72. Is it a 4 bolt main? Some service replacements were. As for the heads they are closed chamber rectangle port heads. Same heads were used on the 70 LS6. A big port head for a small cube engine (the 402)
  22. Flipping cool!!! Going to set my dvr for this one! Lol congrats on your cars making it!!!
