  1. Check the numerals. I bet dollars to doughnuts it says 1971.
  2. The numerals are there for 70s and 71s only not 72s. Also the trunk lock Helmut on 71s have roman numerals but again not the 72s
  3. Both same sized is for a disc brake application. Sorry, I don't have a part number for the correct one. The 70 original should have 2 bleeder screws over the brake lines. Most replacement masters are of the 71 on up style, more common cores. Jump on rock auto and get a part number off of their site. Probably will be cheaper also, if you have a few days to wait.
  4. Ok, here is my question.... If the electric trunk didn't work, and you say the trunk key cylinder doesn't either, then how did you remove it???? I know you state it never worked, how did you open it to install the power set up? Has the lock cylinder been just laying in there for show? That being asked, if the cylinder is out, and it worked before the electric unit was installed, then most likely the tumblers are stuck/ frozen. I would soak it in a penatrating oil and a couple of jolts/whacks to try and loosen the insides up. You could change the door locks and trunk lock with a new set and have one key for them and one for the ignition.
  5. Welcome!!! Beautiful Monte Carlo!
  6. Ever hear of " the part pictured may vary from actual part" or "actual part may be different from picture"? Just saying. That is what The Parts Place has pictured, not me. AND in the pic, it states, " may need to be modified"
  7. I believe the parts place has those listed.
  8. I used the repop of the 70 z/28 style air filter assy on my 70 SS with a holley, 1inch spacer and an RPM air gap intake with no hood issues what so ever.
  9. Welcome Hugh!!! Looks like a great start for you and your daughter!
  10. The 200r4 is the same length as the th350 and uses the same yoke. Your factory driveshaft probably slipped right in. Not sure about the strap vs the u bolts . I have had both on 10bolts. The 12 bolts usually have the straps.
  11. Looking good Glen! Sorry, but I'm with Willie, please keep the white stuff with you! Hopefully getting to 70 Tuesday around here.
  12. I always use the ole reliable, sorry for the word but, ford type f fluid. That's what the trick shift fluid is and cheaper, not much, but it is. Run it in all our th350s and the 400s.
  13. Best case scenario you will need a "combo" u-joint. From the 10 bolt big cap to the 12 bolt small cap. Some find it necessary to cut the 10 bolt driveshaft or replace it. If the car is a 10 bolt but has a th400 in it, the combo joint is all you will need. But most small block equiped Monte Carlos were th350s. Everything else is the same.
  14. Different collars aka lower bowl.
  15. How about a contact number or website so others could use him and he could make more coin?
  16. Check the connectors at the bottom of the columns. Compare the wiring colors and locations of each wire. Most likely the wrong turn signal switch in the new column.
  17. Ohhhh? What is the column out of? If olds, buick or Pontiac the turn signal switch is different.
  18. With a 4L80e you will be fine with the 3.73.
  19. Depends on which 10 bolt you have. If the 8.2, I would use the 12 bolt. If the 8.5, then the choice is yours. The 8.5 is just as strong when built as the 12 bolt.
  20. My 2010 Sierra daily driver even has a trutrac after I exploded the gov-lock factory junk.
  21. I have a 3.31 gear with detroit trutrac in my 496 70 SS Monte Carlo "Big Red" and the same exact rear in my 71 402 Monte Carlo "Barn Find" Big Red has seen more track time than street time. The 496 loves the 3.31s
