  1. The rear cables do not go around the exhaust pipes. They get retained near the front of the rear lower trailing arms, in the round hole in the frame.
  2. Okey dokey. Found the car and driveshaft. Lol. Th400 yolk, snap rings on outer side of shaft. All caps, front and rear same size. All measurements are "rough", trying to hold the shaft, take a pic and not get soaked by the rain. I hope this helps.
  3. Good luck with the swap Dan! Can't wait to see the progress pics! What trans will you be installing?
  4. Looking great Dennis! Job well done!
  5. Happy Hanukkah! 🕎
  6. Same gears as mine also. I will try to take all the measurements.
  7. I hear ya. Lol. You also have a 12 bolt rear? Correct? The output shaft is the size of a th350 or the bigger th400? I do remember that the M20 in 71 and up had the same output shaft as the th400/M22, which my M20 does. 70 and earlier have the th350 size.
  8. If I get a chance, before you get a definitive answer, I will go to one of my garages/storage facilities and take pics and measurements of the yolk for my 71 402, m20 4speed Monte. It may be a few days.
  9. Hello all. This is more for those of us that have older GM trucks. I have a 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 with the front disc, rear drum set up. I have never been totally happy with it's stopping power especially while towing. Even with the power stop drilled and slotted rotors and towing pads. Now mind you, with the power stop kit the truck did stop better than stock. So I did a little research online and discovered that the 2014 and up fixed 4 piston calipers and 13.5" rotors are a basic bolt on for my truck. Stock rotors are 13". People have been raving about this upgrade using stock parts. Well with a little more research I found out that the 2021 tahoe PPV brakes are a direct bolt on just like the 2014 and up brakes. The big difference is the rotors are 16" and the calipers are a 6 piston design. Turns out the pistons are Brembo but are black and do not say Brembo on the outside. GM sells these as a kit called the big brake upgrade for a hefty price. I got the parts from RockAuto for half the price! I did paint the calipers red though. Lol Now mind you they still are expensive, especially the calipers. I used all factory parts except for the pads. I used the power stop towing pads. Well I have to say, once bedded in these things are amazing! Around town and highway brake pedal effort is almost nill. The biggest difference was where I was mostly concerned.... Towing. No more worries there. OMG! Night and day difference. I highly recommend this set up or at least the 2014 4 piston set up. (Which is about 1/2 the price of the PPV set up. Also, you do not have to change anything else in the brake system. Not the master, proportioning valve or anything like that. Bolt on and go! Sweet indeed! I did the swap in May and have no regrets. First pic is the stock set up looking through the wheel. 2nd pic is a mock up. Make sure all will fit withe the wheel. My truck has 20" rims. The rest speak for themselves. Lol

    class is in

One of the heads or the deck of the block where the head gets bolted onto is too rusted Willie? Obviously you know if it's the head, use different heads. But if the block, I agree with the rebuilder. But then again, nothing is impossible. But is it worth it? We still have the 90 454 in stock. Lolol
  11. My son's 70 pro street Monte has 4 wheel disc, manual brakes. We slightly relocated the proportioning valve from its factory place while still using the factory style lines from inline tube. Made up the lines to the line lock and manual brake master.
  12. That is a retaining clip for the chrome piece between the door card and the arm rest base.
  13. Go to your local automotive paint supply. Have them scan the paint on your car and they should be able to make up some touch up paint for you.
  14. Best of luck! Have a safe trip!
  15. Ok, so now does the 72 have that bracket? 99% of our Montes are 70-71s so I can't say for sure. 70 -71 yes, have the brackets. Lol
  16. I know inline tube and the parts place have what you need. Inline tube also has a complete parking brake kit that includes everything needed, should you decide to do so.

    Progress Pics

Pic of numbers? Looks like an issue was possibly on the car going down the assembly line. Deck list L/S. Left side. Cool.

Great job Lyle! Keep the pics coming!
  19. Like Joe stated that pump will work with a regulator. I would also suggest 1/2" fuel line from the tank to the carb to feed the beast if you do not have that already. Also a sump in the tank or the option I took for "Big Red" which is a 1/2" sending unit from RobMC that has an extension towards the back bumper. This way you can run a stock fuel tank.
  20. Is the engine going to use a carburetor or fuel injection? If carburetor, the blue pump will be fine. If fuel injected, the blue pump will not work.
