  1. The driveshaft length for a BBC/th400 12bolt is shorter than a th350. It should measure 54 1/2 from center of driveshaft u-joint to center of driveshaft u-joint. Just the shaft. Not to the end of the yolk. Also, the yolk should be "short" design. This is if you are using the stock style short tail th400. That being said, how is the tire balance? 60mph is usually tire balance. When you installed the strange yolk did you check the backlash on the gears again? Hope this helps.
  2. As far as exhaust systems, right now I agree that flowmaster pipes are good. The best was torque tech but they are out of business. 😞 I actually got their last 3" kit on my 70 SS. I have had kits from alot of different manufactures and the flowmaster tailpipes fit is good. My son and myself have the flowmaster kits on his black 71 and on my 71 barn find. They were previously installed on parts cars and were in stock. The only difference is that I swapped out the flowjunk mufflers for dynomax ultraflows. Have to admit tho, the flowmasters don't sound bad on my son's Monte. IDK how original- ish you are going with your system but I suggest looking at ground up for their exhaust hanger kit. Fits all pipes up to 3", mounts and looks like the stock hangers. Plus they have different style tailpipe hangers to choose from. Have used the kits on 3 of our Montes and love them! Highly recommend!
  3. Hey Willie, I'm on the fence with the PO2 hubcaps. I know they were standard issue on the 72 Monte Carlo Customs. Someone ordered my 71 402 "Barn Find" with them. I will most likely install them eventually as they were "born" on/with the car and you don't see them often. I believe in Jared's video, yours was the only Monte with them. Rally wheels everywhere. Lolol
  4. Lolol. I agree, I like the raised white letters on rally wheels. Don't like them on the PO2 hubcaps. Red line or whitewall for the hubcaps? The PO2 hubcaps are original to "Barn Find"
  5. Lol. I was asking about the tires for the PO2 hubcaps. The redlines on the Rally's looked good also but they are now on my brothers 71 SS454. They are his after all. Lolol and look good on it.
  6. Well, here is the Barn Find last year with rally wheels and redlines. Lol
  7. Hey all, Decided to change all the outside bulbs with new ones, just because. Lol Installed the wheel opening mouldings. Used 2 nos mouldings that were tweaked and small dents that we had in stock. While at it we decided to install the PO2 hubcaps on one side to see what she looked like new. I don't think I like the hubcaps with white lettered tires. They need a white wall or redline. What do you all think??
  8. Congratulations everyone!!! You have done the club proud!!!
  9. The broken end looks just like the good end only on the opposite side. Contact Dan, overdrive on here. He makes the links and also brackets for the air system. I have gotten a few from him. Extremely nice, quality factory looking pieces. I highly recommend him. He also makes the "slap stick" gate for the floor shifter, if you have one. I recommend this also. Hope this helps.
  10. Welcome Chuck! Looks like a good start! Keep the progress pics coming!
  11. Yes. So will new/ good shocks and also new/good bushings in the rear control arms. Also, if for some reason, the triangulation bars are missing, addition of those will help, also addition of a rear sway bar.
  12. Welcome John! Great story! Sorry to hear about the demise of your original 72. Looking forward to seeing pics of the new 72!
  13. Hey gang. Lol just a brief update. Have been doing alot of little stuff on the. "barn find" Got all the exterior lights working. R/r both headlights, misc bulbs and l/f turnsignal harness , reverse light housings all with good used stuff that was in stock. Got the horn working with some steering wheel/column parts and a good used horn. In stock parts. Lol Had the original numbers matching/correct carb rebuilt and installed it along with a new divorced choke coil and cover. Also installed a new nos a/c throttle solinoid. Purrs like a kitten, even though it's a 402. Purrs like a cat just doesn't sound right. Lolol Bolted the grille on with the correct bolts and hardware I purchased from Vic at East Coast Bolts. I know, your saying, WHAT? He doesn't have them in stock!?! Well I do, a couple of sets BUT I couldn't find them. Lol now that it's done I will. Lololol
  14. And a 70-72 buick skylark. Same trunklid except for the emblem holes in the buick and Chevelle. Also, no holes for the trunk emblem/crest for the Monte.
  15. Officially welcome Dennis! Nice collection you have.
  16. Welcome Jamal! Aaron gave you some well thought out answers. I agree with his suggestions. Good luck on your search.
  17. Rob, I believe you may be correct. I will have to recheck on "barn find" lol
  18. You can get the "Birthday" of your Monte off of the trim code plate on top of the firewall. Also if your lucky enough, there should be a sticker with your vin number and "build date" on the driver's door near the lock mechanism in the jamb and as you are lucky enough to have, a build sheet. Some of us, especially with Montes built in the Flint plant don't have them.
  19. Corvette rally rims are only 15x8 and have a 4" backspacing.
  20. Just for comparison, my "barn find" 71 402 is the exact same as Dtret.
  21. Also check out East Coast Bolts, Vic. He has bolt kits that have the correct markings and such. Great guy to deal with.
  22. Welcome to the club Gary! Sounds like a nice Monte you are the original owner of. Any pics? Lolol
  23. I happened across these... Maybe this will work for what you want to do.
  24. Here are a few pics of my brothers 72 before he sold it. It had 15x7 factory Rally's and I believe 225/70r15 redlines. No clearance issues at all. Even if the car was lower the derby caps had ample clearance. Hope this helps. I like the BFG's. My son's Monte has the Cooper cobras on it and they are good. So he says. Lol
  25. Hey, there should be a ground from the back of the block, usually on the driver's side. Thought the years these usually disappear. What I do is the grounding "trifecta" Ground straps from the engine to body, body to frame and frame to engine. This does not include/count the negative battery cable. Grounds are extremely important if you have a console car. This way the shifter cable doesn't become the ground and siezes plus good grounds stop alot of the electrical gremlins you may have/get without them.
