  1. Just by chance, the tv at work was on when I noticed the scene where they were driving. I grabbed my phone to snap pix just in time to see them get crushed. Notice that the passenger rocker trim is missing before the collision šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£. Typical Chicago driver.
  2. Welcome, Jay! Great lookin car you have and the colors are my second favorite combination.
  3. At some point in the early 90s they started phasing in the ā€œBubbleā€ Chevies here at work. I remember one or two years of those having the LT-1 motor with the 9C1 package, which were still a blast drive after the transition from the ā€œBoxā€ Chevies (my fave was the Box Capriceā€¦ I was assigned a grey unmarked that would chirp the tires hard between first and secondā€¦ we beat the s%#t out of that car and it never complained. Brake torques were almost a daily occurrence šŸ¤£). But then they gave us the Bubbles with the 4.3ā€™s. Talk about dogs. Handled great for a big, heavy car, but had no cajones attached to the loud pedal. I also remember absolutely hating the all-new antilock brakes on those new Bubble Caprices. We quickly figured out which fuse to yank to defeat the ABSā€¦ only problem was the rear defroster was on the same fuse. Good times.
  4. If I could, I would put Mongo in the passenger seat and drive it around at work any day.
  5. And here I thought you woulda made a gerbil reference. Youā€™re slippinā€™, Bruh. All BS aside, thank you. Gotta protect the girls. When I retire somewhere warm and dry, Iā€™ll send the bubbles your way. Youā€™ll be able to pretend youā€™re Travolta.
  6. With record tying temps here today, the weekend is calling for below-freezing digits. As much as it pained me to do it, the girls are officially put away for the winter. At least itā€™s like climbing into a jumping jack taking the garbage out to the alley šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚
  7. Pass. Run like your hairā€™s on fire. The right one will come along eventually.
  8. Check the contact for ā€œSweat Equityā€. If thereā€™s no such clause, cease all help and plant your [censored] in a lawn chair with a cooler of beers at the ready and direct the remainder of the job as a spectator (who just so happens to also be writing the check).
  9. How about one mug and one rump?ā€¦
  10. Awesome!! When my mechanic has his ā€˜71 SS, he also found a build sheet on the tank when he dropped it for repairs. It was so fragile, he was afraid to try and remove it. Instead, he took pictures of it and then applied several light coats of varnish to it.
  11. I see the reflection of the power lines in the hood. I donā€™t think anything more needs to be said šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚
  12. Oh crap. The one pictured on the granite counter is the one I have which I grabbed from Bob when I bought the ā€˜71. Wanted to get it while available for when the ā€˜70 goes back to stock someday. Im gonna have to dig it out of the rafters to be certain, but something tells me that what I have is for a Chevelle. Gonna have to compare it to whatā€™s on the ā€˜71.
  13. Well done so far!! And Iā€™m digginā€™ the hose reel.
  14. Curiosity got meā€¦I had to go and look again:
  15. The price in the picture as shown is a few years old. At the time, that particular vendor had exactly ONE in stock and referenced just how rare they are as many people tossed them in the garbage when they put headers on. Theyā€™ve gone up (of course) from what Iā€™ve seen a few months ago on eBay (also found exactly ONE used one listed).

I just penned a country song based off your post.
  17. Agreed. Should go really quick. If I had Joe or Dennis cheddar, Iā€™d add this one to the stable.
  18. For lack of a better comparison, these things are your (soon to be šŸ¤ž) Montes birth certificate. Heres to hoping the inspection checks all the right boxes and things are as represented by the selleršŸ„ƒ. Keep us posted.
  19. Things are lookinā€™ quite nice there, Nath! Build Sheet AND bill of saleā€¦ NICE!! The build sheet for my ā€˜71 is in the safe deposit box, so I donā€™t have it accessible to compare it to yours. However, boxes 55 and 56 are peculiar šŸ¤”ā€¦
  20. Hey Gary, welcome!! While I havenā€™t purchased from him (yet), the consensus here is a Leo has everything you might need. See link below. And Iā€™ll see it before everyone else doesā€¦ We love pictures hereā€¦ The more the better. Good luck! https://koniksklassiks.com/product/72-monte-rear-trim-krs36/.
  21. Thanks. Some of the cell phones have insanely good cameras, but I forgot how nice pictures can look from real cameras. The pixel/size limit here doesnā€™t do them justice.
  22. So, got last minute notice of a show at the Michael Jordan Steakhouse in a wealthy suburb this past Sunday. My gut feeling was correctā€¦ majority of cars there were rich kid toys: a Lamborghini, Porsches, Ferraris, Audis etcetera, not to mention a handful of knuckleheads with their tuner garbage. And check out the lime green Porscheā€¦ has dealer plates on it šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚ Besides me, there was a ā€˜68 Camaro, ā€˜60 Vette, ā€˜87 T-Type and a ā€˜70 Challenger. I only took a couple overall pictures, cause it was such a bust. But the highlight was a professional photographer present took a shine to the ā€˜71 and emailed me his photos today (Iā€™ll try to put those pictures last). At the end of the day, it was a win as I got to drive the car for a while. Not sure how much longer the weather is going to hold out here, so driving to and from a crappy show is better than covered in the garage.
  23. Outstanding!! Glad you guys were able to get together. And great pix!
