  1. Thank you one and all!! Weather permitting, I’m registered for another show Sunday morning. Trying to get to as may as possible. Sidenote: turns out I DID have the only First Gen in attendance.
  2. Was a great ending to a very good day!! Second Place Stock 1970-79.
  3. Pretty much. Although the ‘71’s been winning more often, so I might have to just start rotating them out at this point moving forward 🤣😂
  4. Just got to another local show and I am once again the only First Gen as of now. Show goes until 11 PM so I’ll report back later if things change. At least two judges have stopped buy and paid compliments to the car. Absolutely perfect weather for a night out… just have to wait til dude selling hotdogs is up and running as I’m dying for a Chicago style dog …or three. Here’s a few pics for now…
  5. The weather here today was perfect: 75°, sunny and no humidity. Took both cars out for a drive. Didn’t stop anywhere remotely scenic with the ‘70, but stopped near a running and biking trail in a forest preserve on the route I drove the ‘71. It wasn’t until I got home and looked at the pictures that I noticed there’s already leaves on the ground🥺. A grim reminder that it’ll soon be time to put the girls up…
  6. I literally laughed out loud and almost spit out what I was chewing as I read this. Too funny.
  7. I don’t mean to be a wet blanket, but I personally think it detracts from the clean, classic look exemplified by an unencumbered chrome bumper. Perhaps it’d be a tad more visually palatable were there bumper guards to compliment/supplement that much black…the transition between chrome and black would be “gradual” instead of instant. Just my 2 cents.
  8. Welcome! And very nice. I love the color 😉
  9. Rob, Got mine from Ground Up / SS396.com And they were in stock and arrived in less than a week.
  10. My ‘70 came with a huge Ron Davis aluminum radiator and dual electric fans. Fans kick on at 185/190 degrees or run continuously if the AC is on. I haven’t driven it long distances on the expressway to see if airflow at speed/turbulence disrupts cooling. But as Joe mentioned, the previous owners mechanic installed a toggle switch on the dash under the steering wheel and out of sight. One position runs the fans all the time, one position runs them off temperature/thermostat/when AC is on, and one position turns them off completely. And also as Joe cautioned, I was wondering why my fans weren’t kicking on when I drove the car home from the trim shop after the new interior was installed. The installers must’ve pushed the switch to ‘OFF’ at some point crawling under the dash. Luckily I was cognizant enough to be listening for them to kick on as I watched the temperature gauge climb. But they are definitely worth their weight in gold as the temperature drops almost immediately. Interesting side note: The first time my dad came over to see the car, he was hovering over the motor, checking things out while it was running. He almost jumped out of his skin when those fans kicked on 🤣. They definitely sound “all business”, almost like an angry swarm of bees when you first hear them.
  11. Forgot these with my earlier response. Not the best pics, but this should give you a general idea…
  12. I just got rid of the carpeted ones that came with the ‘70 after the interior was redone. I went with the original thin rubber/vinyl ones with the ‘GM’ logo from Ground Up. Not bad for a C-Note (see pic). The ‘71 came with black rubber mats, but Bob threw in a set of OE jade green mats to match the interior, I just haven’t put them in yet.
  13. Joe… maybe meet Dennis halfway and at least take a picture of the box in the attic. But do it right around noon time when the sun’s directly overhead so you don’t have to use the flash on your phone.
  14. I’ll bet it does. And at least I’ll be entertained by the car of characters here in the meantime.
  15. I’ll let you all know in 3 more years when I get my 5 year FGMCC cherry popped. It’s gonna seem like an eternity until then ..(Sob 🥺😭).
  16. Very nice! Looks like a perfect day.
  17. Well done. I was I had even remedial body skills.
  18. Nope. Mongo doesn’t need any more friends. I’ll be sending her to your place.
  19. Excellent advice. Although I wish I’d known that yesterday 🤣
  20. On the ‘71, the seams on the roof appear to line up with the seams under the window, but not in line with the gaps in the deck lid. Gonna have to look at the ‘70 cuz I can’t recall where the seams lie off the top of my head.
  21. Finally! More than just my First Gen in attendance. There was another ‘71 in the lot when I pulled in and a short time later Andrew (AJ1970) showed up with his beautiful triple black ‘70SS. Was nice to meet another FGMCC member and the weather was absolutely perfect. Didn’t take many pictures, but I’m throwing in one of an old Ford pick up that immediately caught my eye. Also added a pic of some drunken slob of a wench who gangstered my second camping chair. She was pretty big and I didn’t want to get beat up by a chick, so I just waited her out. Boy, what I woulda given to have Joe and Dennis as backup tonight.
  22. I literally laughed out loud at that… only there’s nothing funny about that truth.
  23. Words, Joe…words. Sometimes they hurt more than fists 🥺
