  1. Any one know where I can get a "CN keep your GM car all GM" air cleaner decal? As shown on the attached link. https://musclecaraircleaners.com/products/1970-71-chevrolet-monte-carlo-ss-454-ls5-oval-snorkel-air-cleaner
  2. I would dish soap the door and the guard just to be doubly safe!
  3. My 71 SS is a highly optioned Zone car, the "charge to" and "ship to" are both hand written on the build sheet. I've never seen one like this with, who i assume the intended recipients, name printed on the sheet as well. pretty cool imo. Darren, your first hand knowledge is invaluable! when others like my self can guess and hypothesize, you've been there, done it, and seen it! I have a few other sheets with "bypass code 4" and "bypass code 2" printed in the body below the options, assuming they were doing something out of the ordinary in these builds? Hope all is well!
  4. Looks like your car was ordered for an executive! Charged to Chevrolet Motor Division delivered to local dealer. Have not seen all that many "Zone Cars"/"Brass hat" build sheets. This is the first one I've ever seen that lists the name of the person who I assume the car was ordered for! I think that is more rare than any of the options...lol Congrats! great car!
  5. Those stampings indicate 1969 model year car.. also there should only be 1 stamping that starts with P, the second character 9 indicates the "model" year car the trans is for. The partial VIN third character is a B, = out of a Baltimore built car. The trim tag pictured is a Flint built car, the car should have F in the VIN. For example My November 1969 built 1970 chevelle (numbers and POP matching) trans is P0R29A 0= 1970 model year R29= October 29 1969 A= M20. Look here!! http://chevellestuff.net/qd/muncie.htm So my opinion is that that is a transmission from a Baltimore built 1969 car. With 2 assembly dates for some reason.
  6. there should be enough of an opening for the water to run into and out of the rocker.
  7. https://tiresize.com/converter/ a good place to compare!!

    Brake Booster

https://www.getdiscbrakes.com/rpb1008 this one has the upside down delco moraine stamping as found on many original boosters. https://www.getdiscbrakes.com/dbmc19 And this master cylinder has the side bleeders as originally equipped.

    Brake Booster

I would recommend ordering directly from "the Right Stuff" https://www.getdiscbrakes.com/parts/1970-Chevrolet-Monte-Carlo/brakes/brake-boosters-and-master-cylinders/brake-booster-and-master-cylinder-combos/
  10. Hey Darren! My 71 SS has; deluxe belts, and the lap belts are the small female head no adjustment, with retractable male end. a perforated headliner and perforated swing out visors, as well as a vanity mirror on the passenger side. Mine was built at the Baltimore plant in April of 71 has the dark saddle interior, perhaps the interior color popularity had a determining factor as to how long it took to exhaust any remaining 1970 parts.
  11. Wow, that really is rotted!! I think the good thing is that the replacement tag is using the same vin number, correct? In the case of some recovered thefts and such I've seen them get a state "reassigned" vin, which in my opinion would be worse than what you have there. Although, I think a replacement vin would hurt on resale, if restored and documented you will still have a beautiful Monte Carlo SS. Is there any indication on the title of it being a state replaced vin? if not perhaps you can get a new dash vin made and ditch the one in the jam. I know there are places out there to get replacement trim tags (look for ads in Hemmings) maybe possible to get yours reproduced?
  12. Cool, I remember talking to him about it back when he got it. I think he had a few SS's, and one converted to a 4 speed.

    front shocks

Darren, What color were the rear air shocks painted? same gray as fronts? Thanks, Dave
  14. My 70 4 speed does not have cushions either.
  15. I had some done @ 8 years ago @tri-city for the 72 monte...front and rear, one was 285, the other 300, and the same prices for chevelle, not sure why the price difference between front and rears. (I assume the cost has risen since) Front bumper guards were 75 a piece then. Recently spent 40 UPS shipping each way to have the chevelle rear bumper re-rechromed under their lifetime warranty. The chrome on my tri-city bumpers has a much deeper shine than my reproductions, but the reproduction is not a straightened and repaired rechrome....so the fit and finish are better in that regard, especially the fit around the taillights. If you go rechrome, just be sure and supply them with as perfect a core as possible.
  16. Got replacement bumpers for one of my 71's from rockauto....very nice and best price around
  17. I am interested in one as well. dgconcordia@yahoo.com
  18. The rubber bumper at the bottom of the hood rubs and contacts that area when hood is shut...often times even wearing or flattening the characters out in that area.
