MC-71
Has anyone ever cut a opening dead center of the fuel sending unit in the trunk floor. I have always installed a carpet in my trunk and a door center of the sending unit would work out pretty well and the carpet would cover it. 71MonteCarloMD
Carl, just curious why you want to do that? Rick

monte70car
I think the reason behind it, is so you don't have to drop the tank to change the sending unit or change out the fuel gauge wire.
502ci
Do you have or are you installing an electric fuel pump in that location? Would be cool to have easy access to it.
GatorDog72
I cut holes in the trunk by the shocks to access the top bolts. I don't see why you couldn't do it for the fuel tank too. Some newer cars have an access panel already cut from the factory.
MC-71
I turn 70 years old this Feb. Having trouble now laying under the car. Just trying to save my body from dropping the tank. We all know that these aftermarket sending units tend to fail. I'm going to reuse the one I just took out of my old tank. It worked before and I checked it with a ohm meter and works. I do have back up units. Just a thought.
7tonemonte
it's sad that we have to plan on new parts failing like that. sad but true
