1970 LS6 454 Cleaned it for the first time in years!

Starting to look like a car again...

Well I haven't updated in a while, but I've still been working. I just haven't done much to be shown off in pics. After finding spun bearing in the LT1, it's now on the back burner. I have an old 355 that used to be a relative's circle track engine. Got that cleaned up with a quick shot of paint. Because I'm not using the LT1 I have no accessories or brackets...luckily grandpa used to be a hot rodder, and made his living doing machine work and motor swaps etc. Back of the shop is basically a swap meet or u pick lot. Most of my nights have been spent looking for a correct, and working, version of everything I need. Stripped everything and painted. Last night we finally got most of the pieces in, and it ran! Have some more parts on order to get transmission freshened up, finish coolant system, air cleaner. We threw the fenders on before I left to check clearances and quality of my body work. My passenger side isn't right and may need to be redone.

The way the coil is pictured is upside down. The top of the coil is on the floor. The "pigtail" is supposed to located between the 2 holes in the pocket of the lower control arm.

The cruising days are becoming more limited this fall. It was nice yesterday so I left work early to take the Monte out for a cruise. It’s that time when the flowers are still blooming but the trees are starting to turn fall colours.

My block finally got some love at the machine shop, I guess my guy super busy Glenn is getting tired of me harassing him to work on it. Piston rings were filed to fit and cam bearings were whacked in place. Tomorrow I'll wash the block & drop in the crank and it'll come home to MCG. Waiting on smaller rod bearings and I can get the short block assembled.

Got a little monte time in today, put almost 50 miles on. Went to see my daughter and grand kids and my girl and her grand kids. Was a nice day.

Nice ! I left my grill out for a few days of driving, friend said she liked the look, like a shark lol. After a few days it looked unfinished to me so I put it back in. Looks like you got the dash pad in too. I enlarged the pic, man thats looking sharp!

I have a cousin who lives there, she loves to let me know, but all good I actually live right outside Algonquin Park, I can’t complain.

So I guess the new hinges worked. Looks awesome. I can only hope mine turns out that nice. Still love the doggo. Can’t get mad with a puppy in the pic. O ya. It’s getting close to a congrats so I sent you a note in the mail give a few days and follow the instructions I sent. Cheers

Got the steering and suspension done last weekend. This weekend I’m taking a look at the interior. Just pulled the front carpet to look at the driver’s floor. I can’t believe how good this car is!!!

I plan on having my 72 Monte done this fall/winter, so I will be coming to my first ever FGMCC meet this next year.
