LOL You are right Mark, I started this morning and then my daughter stopped over with my grandson. Downhill from there! I tried to talk him into helping me with the Monte, he said sure. We went in the greenhouse and he played with every tool i had on the bench. I told him that i needed a hand to get the acc cable out, he said ok POP POP and walked out for something else to do. LOL At that point i had to stop. But i got something done. I now know the cable doesn't fit!!!!! LOL Hopefully i can get some Monte time tomm, even though i have a 9;30 am soccer game for a different grandson!!! Life is good (sometimes) LOL4 points

I'm gonna make an executive decision the cable is the wrong one lol. Maybe measure one on your other Monte's see if it is the same length. Good luck2 points

Just throwing this out, Chicago auction next month. My quick look see no load leveler and I'll assume aftermarket manifold. https://www.mecum.com/lots/CH1022-522873/1970-chevrolet-monte-carlo-ss/1 point

If you’re going to drive the 72 ( not happening) does that mean you have had the rearend fixed?1 point

I feel your pain, been raining here all week. Had a sunny day Friday so that was mostly spent doing outside work around the house . Did dust off the blue oval vert hoping for a weekend cruise but yesterday was a wash (pun intended) and today isn't looking good either 🙃1 point

Got up early today to take the 72 out for a road test to check the rear. Going to rain so thats out!!! 60-90% chance is way to high for me. Going back in to see what is going on with the 71. Looks like we all have the same bracket (good thing). But the cable body is NOT long enough to reach the bracket (this is the problem). Everyone says the engine should always be in the same spot. (Not original motor or tranny). Its a 73 P/U or RV motor. So to me the only thing left will be the acc cable itself must be to short. It was used, but marked BB, maybe just mismarked (my guess (hope)). Even though it the body was an inch longer then the one that was on the car (that didnt fit either) and the cable itself was 2 inches longer. I cant get the body of the cable to mount into the bracket.????? Thanks for the help and posting of the pic Dennis and Tom!!1 point

But to keep it “ legal “ in the forum I got my Monte in the picture. Lol. First of all NOT mine. A good customer of mine who happens to own a very successful garage ( and other things) don’t have time to work on his own cars. This will probably be one of 4 different projects. 69 superbee, 83 Monte SS ( 22,000 mile car) and a 32 deluxe coupe ( whatever that is). None of these cars have seen the light of day in at least 20 years. I have to get them running for him. The 55 has 3 inches of marmalade in the gas tank. Wish me luck or hit me in the head with a 2x4. Lol.1 point

I know it may be the same old boring ralley wheels, but I love ‘em. 15x8, 5” bs with 275x60/15 black walls out, new beauty rings, any suggestions on how to paint the black in the centers? Had to mortgage the house but she got a full tank of gas as well, pictures to follow soon1 point

Hey Jeff the radio will fit a Monte and Chevelle dash . The Monte dash and the Chevelle SS dash are the same other than the Monte having the woodgrain. It will also fit the regular Chevelle sweep dash.1 point

I just realized something. Who in their right mind would move a 70 Chevelle SS outside to make room for a rusted 70 Monte body? I need to have my head REexamined.1 point
