  1. Thanks for the replies. I had success with the wire wheel and brushing. I do feel inclined to coat the whole trunk with rust reformer and repaint. I am wondering if the spatter paint in there is original for the purposes of color matching it. The car has been repainted in the past and I am not sure if the trunk was done too. Any thoughts? In my opinion this rust is due to water coming into the trunk as it was parked outside for a significant amount of time. It has, however, been garaged and out of the elements for the past 20 years. There is one spot of rot at the lip of the trunk floor underneath the latch but I would have to remove the bumper to gauge the extent of the problem. The underside of the car needs a lot of help as it spent its life in the midwest. 😑 I hope to start addressing it in the springtime.

  2. I’ve never had the honor of actually finding a 51 year old build sheet on a car. Found on top of the gas tank. Kansas built car, shipped to Hodgenville Kentucky and I bought the crashed remnants 51 years later less than 25 miles from the dealership it was bought from. Too bad, but hopefully it will donate a lot of parts to help keep others alive. Well not actually “ donate “ persay lol

  11. From when the club started to now we have had 3,518 Dues Paying Members of the FGMCC. I specify "Dues Paying Members" because it is possible to be a "Board" member without being a dues paying member. Dues paying members have access to areas of the club website that Non-Dues paying members do not see. Currently our Dues Paying Membership count is 401. This membership count changes from month to month with some dues paying members not renewing and some new members becoming a dues paying members. Some information on Long Time Members with consecutive, uninterrupted dues payments: 77 Dues Paying Members have 15 to 20 year consecutive years of paying dues 27 Dues Paying Members have 20 to almost 23 consecutive years of paying dues 9 of our current Dues Paying Members have been dues paying members of the club since 2000 when the club first started. rob

  12. Thanks to the forum for the 5 year member badge. Very cool, I can't believe it's been 5 years already. Looking forward to the next 5 years. Maybe I'll get lucky and add a 4 speed car to this one. Thanks again.

  13. The switch should have a small hole that a drill bit can be inserted and will keep the tang from moving back and forth. Put the shifter into neutral, then insert the switch and tighten it down. If you still have the original switch it should have an 'N' molded next to the hole on the plastic side. https://www.ss396.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/sm/GDR-411.pdf
