  1. Try Rotella diesel oil. Has a high zinc content for the cam and lifters and diesel oil has detergent in it. It should eventually clean the carbon out.
  2. Yay and poop!!! Metering rods and spring tension adjustment are not biggies. Hopefully he can do it while you wait. Fingers crossed!
  3. Idk about your theory. Never tried that. I would take the switch out and install the new one. The vacuum of the master should hold most of the fluid. The loosen the switch, have an assistant push the pedal slowly to the floor and tighten the switch. Repeat till only fluid comes out and you should be good to go. If you do it the way you explained, please post the results. My interest it piqued.
  4. What you basically did with the 15x8 rim was move the front tires out, 1 1/4 inches. That's why they rubbed.
  5. Welcome! Looks like a nice Monte to start with. Like others have stated vendors I have used harnesses manufactured by M&H electrical. Found their harnesses to be basically plug and play.
  6. Sorry, street or not, if I'm building or having an engine built, it gets forged Pistons. Ya never know what you will add later. Ask me how I know. Lolol and never say never. Lolol

    Jobe

Welcome Jobe! Pics!!! Addition to all the great places stated above Ground up and ausleys also have "phantom" fit parts for our cars.
  8. IDK why, but each year first gen has differences in the way the a/c works. The 70s and 71s have a heat control valve. The 70 is on the passenger fender well and the 71 has it in the intake manifold near the water pump. Both styles are in the heater hose going to the heater core to stop the flow of hot water. The 72 has no such valve. Other owners with a/c equipped 72s have also complained about the issue you have described.
  9. Right shape, don't need the nose but 5k? Guess I'm old. Lolol used to get something like that for 100.00 bucks, back in the day. Lololol
  10. Take the front part of a Monte frame from the firewall forward, where it's grafted to the side rails. Ez pz. Lolol
  11. Hey Willie! I guess not. Lolol
  12. Rob, donate the El Camino and I will donate and do the rest. Lol
  13. Love the pics Aaron! Thank you! I love the color of your Monte. Is that the factory formula for classic copper or was it "tweaked"? Would love my 71 402 4speed looking like yours!
  14. 4dr- ugly as sin and the GM executives knew that. YAY!!! WAGON- I like it. El Monte- personally would like to build one.
  15. The straps on your tank, 71SSCLONE are correct. The small hole, facing the bumper is supposed to have a self tapping bolt going threw it into the shorter part. Then bend the strap slightly at the back of the tank. Tighten the long bolts near the rear differential till the straps are tight against the tank. As far as your gauge, it should read full unplugged. Check the ground wire for connection and good ground. If that is good it is the rehastat. Basically the sending unit is no good.
  16. Welcome Jerry! What a beauty you have there!!
  17. Clone or not, nice looking Monte and great start!
  18. Great pics Rob! Thank you for sharing and especially like the pic with the build sheet.
  19. Welcome John! Sounds like a nice car! We love pics here. Hint hint. 😂
  20. Disconnect the fuel line from the carb and put it into a container. Have someone crank the car, no ignition and see how much fuel the pump is pushing out. I personally don't care for the Eddy carb. Put a Holly in it IF the fuel pump is pumping enough fuel.
  21. Pic is a little blurry. Are you looking for the channel that holds the weatherstrip that the top of the windows seal to?
  22. Brew, the front one and most of the top rail will work for our cars. The top rail, towards the rear has more of a curve on a Chevelle. You could "adjust" it to fit the Monte or it may fit perfectly. The roof panel for a Chevelle fits our cars and needs modification where the roof and quarter panel meet. The rail may be the same.
  23. Welcome Brew! Looks like a nice car to start with. As you know we love pics here!
