  1. What a difference. I like your light. Is that something you devised or did you buy it?
  2. I’ll bet the nylon cup is gone. The shaft is probably rattling in the shaft to frame bracket.
  3. Boy, you kids have me feeling like a dinosaur. 4 tracks on the left and 8 tracks on the right.
  4. Welcome Phil, beautiful car. Your patience is paying off.
  5. There are 4 screws above the gauges on the instrument panel, but it looks to me like the part of by your dash that holds the switch is broken out.
  6. Between that and the bearing retainer nut, makes you wonder what else might be wrong.
  7. First time read for me. Well said.
  8. Sorry for your loss Willie. No need to apologize for the long post. It seems to me you said what needed to be said.
  9. Back in September of 2022 I attended a big show out here in So Cal that I try to get to every year. Cruisin for a Cure. A charity for prostate cancer awareness. My wife normally comes with me but she couldn’t. Because they offer free PSA screenings she made me promise to get screened this time. A first for me. About a week later I got a call from a doctor saying my numbers were high and that I should see my doctor ASAP. A needle biopsy confirmed I had prostate cancer. Luckily we got it early. After a little research I chose the 28 day regiment of radiation treatment at City of Hope of which I completed in early 23. Because of the sayings “you only live once” and “you can’t take it with you” I dipped into my retirement, with my wife’s blessing, and started a 6 month search to find an exact replacement for my first car. The 71 first gen I have now. My PSA numbers now are barely detectable and I feel great. I have my wife, City of Hope and my love for classic cars for quite possibly saving my life. Unfortunately my wife isn’t buying into my reasoning that because classic cars may have played a small part in saving my life, I should get some more. My point is that I know there are quite a few club members in my age group. If you haven’t had a PSA screening, get one. It could save by your life. By the way, I went to the 2023 show and thanked the people in the screening room for saving my life.
  10. Can’t go wrong with ARP.
  11. I’ve got State Farm also. Probably 40 years now. Have all my cars with them. I have their classic car insurance for the Camaro & Monte with an agreed value on both. Only issue was a 65% increase on the homeowners which I was able to bring down to about a 25% by lowering the coverage a little. I was over insured by quite a bit. They and a few others stopped writing new homeowner policies in California due to the fires. I’m grandfathered in for now. Occasionally I’ll check with the other companies but they can’t beat them. Everything costs more out here.
  12. You’re right, I, like the guy that re stamped it missed that 5 too.
  13. The script of the numbers on the block (4952) that tie it with the vin don’t look right to me.
  14. I had some stainless trim from the interior 1/4 panels from a deluxe interior 69 Camaro that I cut and put in the recessed portion of my armrest bases. I later found that OPGI has a listing for a trim that they claim was used on some Monte Carlos. I’m satisfied with what I came up with, so I’m not going to change it. It is similar to the trim on the sides of my console. Besides it’s probably another backorder item with them anyway. I’ve never seen any trim on the bases before. Does anyone have it? Was it part of a special trim option?
  15. I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks for the info.
  16. Just picked up a switch for mine because of an issue with the rheostat and my dash lights only. Paid a couple extra bucks for a GM part and still got Taiwan.
  17. After getting it home, you then went and got a tetanus shot right?
  18. Thanks for posting and keeping us updated. Glad you got it figured out.
  19. Welcome, beautiful car. Great to hear from a new member. Becoming a member is a wise choice. This is THE place to be for help and info on these cars. I’m sure that your restoration has left you with plenty of knowledge to share also. More pics please.
  20. I’ve seen the Argent silver In spray cans at the auto parts stores. Mainly for wheels. If you go with black, then definitely use satin or semi gloss. Flat is too hard to clean the bugs off.
  21. I hear you. My main reason for retiring was that my job was getting in the way of all the work I still had to do.
  22. Looking great. Like the color. I’ve always been partial to blue. Looks like the 2 bottom photos have been cleared.
  23. I’m with you on that. Only been a member since August but I find myself on the site every day looking for the latest posts. I’ll scroll through the archives not looking for anything in particular, but just to learn what I can about these cars. What’s cool about this group is that it’s not just about the cars, it’s about the members lives too. The banter shows how close the friendships are. The cars get the credit for bringing everyone together though.
  24. A quick place to start looking for that build sheet would be behind the right front fender between the inner fender and firewall. That’s where I found mine just recently (Kansas City/Leeds Plant build also). Removing the 3/8 bolt at the bottom of the fender that helps secure the plastic inner fender behind the wheel will let you push in the inner fender to take a look. Glen had said that was one of the known places the Leeds plant put them.
