imr
It is not going as quick as i would like. Body work is almost done. i need to get the measurments for the black on the rockers, and install the trim. Then on to mechanical. Registered the car today and drove about 30 miles. It was a nice ride.

overdrive
Your car is looking great! Very nice job. Here are some pics to help with the rocker paint. It just follows the factory seam at the front and rear edge that's inside the door opening. The tape edge goes through the center of the trim holes on the quarter panel and the fender. overdrive
You're welcome. No, not behind the rear tire. The wide trim that covers that area has black on it to match the other areas. Dan

imr
I got the trim installed and the rocker painted black. I will probably replace a couple of pieces if i find them for the right price.
MCfan
Lookin' really nice, Antoine!! Sure makes me miss the first Monte I bought new in July of '70. It was not an SS (I didn't even know they made them back then), but it was Autumn Gold with a white vinyl top and a 402/TH400. Of all the cars I've owned, that one is second only to the '70 4-speed I have now on my list of favorites. If you ever decide to let yours go, I hope I don't know about it - not sure I could resist the temptation! If I remember correctly, your SS was a GM exec car that was fully loaded with nearly every available option. I assume that included front and rear bumper guards but maybe you just haven't installed them yet. I suppose it's what you're used to but I really like the look of bumper guards on any first gen Monte.
imr
Dennis my monte has the rear bumper guard on but not the front ones. i guess i need to look at the build sheet, did they come front and rear? According to the first owner i got it from he says it was a research lab car. he didnt know if it was for testing or an executive car. I too like the bumper guards and your correct it is a high option car. little by little iam getting it back together. so far original parts mostly. Maybe i can make it up your way and you can check it out first hand.
